provides
an immediate snapshot outlining background experience and
current applications of audiovisuals used in the applicant’s
ministry. Dr. Mrs. Joy Agbazue from Enugu, Nigeria
shared, “I generally use writings and drawings on
cardboard sheets when I minister to the people.”
When we
first connected with Dr. Joy back in mid-2000, she had been
praying and seeking God’s direction for her evangelism
ministry. “I am involved in bringing greater awareness
and motivations for evangelism in churches over here. I now
have much need of the audiovisuals to make the message more
vivid.”

Later in
response to our letter, discussing available media, she
wrote,
“I
really cannot find words to express my gratitude and
appreciation for your promise to provide audiovisuals. Do
you know that God has just used you to meet my dream of
owning such tools for evangelism? Thanks very
much
for yielding yourself for God’s use. My husband, who is a
spiritual Christian, is praying with me that these tools
will arrive soon, as we have plans for village evangelism.”
Arrangements were made for a wide variety of items to be
hand carried. Now Dr. Joy is equipped with a Torch Kit,
Christian videos, tools for the Overhead Projector, a 16mm
Film Projector, and a selection of drama films, all to
expand the ministry of the Gospel. “Now that I’m
equipped, I have trained 8 people to work with me. We call

Evangelical Fellowship’. Our plan is to minister in
marketplaces, bus stops, hospitals, street corners,
orphanages, rehabilitation centers, and unreached villages.
The Torch Kit is small, but mighty. It is easy to
manipulate and gives excellent projection, providing
results. The Torch Kit is wonderful, and we use our Igbo
Language to tell the stories. At our first showing to a
group of 41 youth all 41 claimed they were born again, but
after showing your drama Filmstrip story, ASHA, THE BLIND
GIRL WHO COULD SEE, we gave an invitation. 22 of the
youth accepted Christ. The Torch Kit provides a great
advantage. Since we tell the story each time, we can mix
language, as needed, making the message very clear. Another
village showing took place near a hospital. Your drama, THE
UNFINISHED STORY, was very pertinent to this audience of
handicapped persons - lame, blind, deaf, and dumb. They
were thrilled that there is hope of healing in Heaven where
disabilities will no longer exist. 16 persons accepted
Christ after this meeting. It gives us great
encouragement to know that you and your prayer partners are
praying for us. In fact, your prayers are yielding
wonderful fruit in this ministry.”
Dr.
Agbazue and her team at Light on the Hill Evangelical
Fellowship have thus far been blessed with 1,264 souls
won to Christ using AVangelism. Do please continue to
pray for this powerful ministry.
LIKE A
ROD IN THE HAND OF MOSES
Our
Burmese Language director, Rev Myint Nwe from
Yangon, Myanmar, had been leading a couple of seminars a
year ago and was sharing the power of audiovisuals as had
been experienced by some of the Evangelists and Pastors
participating. He wrote, “InterComm audiovisual tools,
such as the Torch Kit, videos, and VCD’s are like a rod in
the hand of Moses (Exodus 4:2-4). God is using these tools
in the hands of all of us here miraculously in the
ministry. Praise God!”
COVER
MORE VILLAGES
Rev.
Badini KS Silas from Bam, Burkina Faso
writes:
“I am
glad of dropping you a line, covering our 3rd
evangelism campaign with the Torch Kit. This trip took us
to villages having strong Muslim communities. That is the
reason that so few people gave themselves to the Lord. We
are asking that you please pray for us that our next revival
campaigns with the Torch Kit will cover more villages. Our
hope is to reach the highest number of villages possible.”
Let’s
please pray for Rev. Silas and his team as they go out to
the difficult places. His Report covered an audience of
545 with 19 accepting Christ.
DUBAI
MINISTRY
Our Sri
Lankan Project Manager, Priyantha Senapatiratne, was
excited to share with us that an opening has occurred in the
Middle East for the Sinhala Language translations
that were completed in Colombo last year. He wrote, “I
met a couple working in Dubai. They are ministering among
the Sri Lankan housemaids in this country. They are excited
to learn about the Sinhala films becoming available, which
they can freely take into Dubai and distribute. Already a
set of VCD’s have been put in their hands for this purpose.
Let’s do pray that God will bless the ministry to these
house girls, as the videos are shown in these Muslim homes.
We thank God for this new opening and other countries where
the Sinhala will be used in such similar ways.”
Let’s
also remember to pray for Priyantha and all Christians in
Sri Lanka, as they minister effectively to those who have
lost so much through the devastation of the recent Tsunami
event on their eastern shores.
HEARTBEAT
by Ken
Anderson
In the
October TORCH, I introduced to you the concept of the 6th
and 7th senses. We continued on this theme in
November, and then highlighted the function of the brain in
December. I thought it would be helpful to give you a
little more background on how I came to my conclusion that
there were 6th and 7th senses. Here
then is some background.
Although
I have been a believer since September 13, 1937, I only
recently have been able to firm up positive concepts on
which to pursue key truths from the Bible, some of which are
intensely exciting.
Several
years ago, Bob Bland, director of Teen Missions
International, asked me to give a serious of talks on
choices to members of his staff. He was genuinely excited
about the series. I, in turn, was motivated to do some
serious thought about choice and decision, particularly the
“mechanics” of real commitment. Fortunately, the more I
thought about depth in making of choices, the more I found
myself searching the Scriptures. WHERE TO FIND IT IN THE
BIBLE became my continual resource.
I began
having delightful ideas popping into my head. For example,
the 6th and 7th sense! I began
finding key Scriptures in the Old Testament.
Gathering
all my Bible readings prior to this, I had pretty much
stayed away from the Old Testament. Now I began to
experience a feeling of the old axiom, “The new is in
the old contained. The old is in the new explained.”
For
example, I came upon Jeremiah 29:11-12: “For I know the
thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of
peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will
listen to you.” I especially noted verse 13, “And
you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with
all your heart.”
Wow! At
this moment, I employed a new technique which the Lord had
given me. It was simply a matter of finding meaningful
Scripture and then asking God to reveal its meaning to me.
Beautifully, I saw it! The 6th sense was
awareness of someone being available and willing to help me
understand the Bible. Jeremiah 29:13!
The 7th
sense had to be the message the Lord had for me in verses 11
and 12 of Jeremiah. Suddenly it hit me! I felt confident
that the Lord was telling me how to find answers in the
profound teachings of the Bible itself. In that moment, I
turned in my Bible to Galatians 5:22-23: “But the fruit
of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against
such there is no law.” Without missing a beat, I bowed
my head and prayed, “Lord, make this Scripture reality in
my life!”
I hope to
share a little more with you about the senses next month.
