EASY TO CARRY

"Pastor Lungu Using Torch Kit with a Sheet as a Screen"

EASY TO CARRY

Pastor Jacob Lungu, director of Sowers Bible Ministries in Lusaka, Zambia, was referred to us by our friends at World Missionary Press, best-known for their Gospel booklet, HELP FROM ABOVE. “We are a registered ministry, we are growing, and people are getting saved. Our vision is mainly focused upon rural areas in our country, as these people are in need of God’s words. We seek to reach areas also where our countrymen have never heard of God. We are in need of a Film Projector. This can assist us to help the people fully understand the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The process of screening a new contact often times results with equipping the applicant with less than they may have requested, yet more realistically providing tools better suited to their actual ministry vision. A Torch Kit became Pastor Lungu’s #1 item on his need list for his ministry, and this was shipped in October 2002. “All members of the Body of Christ under our ministry are really encouraged to receive the good news of the items you have shipped to us. We are praying for you, and also that these materials will arrive safely.”

Upon arrival in February 2003, “We thank you and are still giving praise to God for making a way for media tools to reach us safely. May Almighty God continue blessing InterComm for the heart of giving you have. We have tested the Torch Kit, and it is working. It will help our ministry to grow, especially in rural areas for it is easy to carry.”

Pastor Lungu immediately incorporated the Torch Kit as Sowers Bible Ministry began to reach the small rural areas of Zambia. “Blessed be the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who introduced our ministry to InterComm. This Torch Kit is very helpful. Ever since I started using it, our ministry will never be the same. The Lord is blessing us with new souls, and believers are also being strengthened through the use of media. It is our prayer that God will bless InterComm for the good work you are doing. This Torch Kit is very helpful because it gives me a chance to teach and explain the Gospel, picture by picture, especially in places where people don’t have access to television.”

Leading a small ministry with few helpers to the most remote areas of his country will not bring worldly fame to Rev. Lungu, not even in his country Zambia, but God has blessed his efforts with 355 souls won to Christ in just 3 years time. His fame in Heaven is legendary!

ALLIGATORS, SPIDERS, AND SNAKES, OH NO!

Micah Tuttle is a young missionary in the country of Peru, who willingly takes the Good News of Jesus Christ to some of the most challenging jungle locations. Film Producer, Jimmy Murphy, who so ably assisted us in the production of PILGRIM’S PROGRESS and CHRISTIANA, shared this Report with us.

“Down the muddy waters of the Madre de Dios River we went, deep into some of the most virgin jungles of the world. Our days were filled with jungle hikes, hunting, fishing, singing, preaching, and Bible studies. What a life! We ate wild jungle pig meat, roasted bananas, and all kinds of strange fruits, nuts, and roots. It was humid, hot, and sticky, and we were regularly accompanied by tarantulas, mosquitoes, alligators, and snakes. It was an absolute paradise! At the evening meeting, the entire village showed up - 250 people. We started the generator, screwed in a light bulb, and put on the film, PILGRIM’S PROGRESS, and ended the night with Gospel preaching. The next day we spent hours talking to both individuals and small groups about Christ. We visited hut after hut until we had canvassed the whole village. We ended our time in a tearful meeting with those that had made commitments to Christ - 5 couples. Please pray for these believers. Please pray for these believers and their women. No one is married in the entire village. All the men freely share their women with one another and thus spread all kinds of sexual diseases not to mention all the other terrible consequences that come from such wickedness. However, all 5 of the men who accepted Christ are leaders in the village and have influence on the rest of their community. Please pray that this entire village could come to Christ.”

A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS

Mr. Vijay Kumar from India writes:

“One day I was waiting for a train, and suddenly an 18 year old young girl came up to me and expressed thanks to me. It was a surprise because I did not know her. She told me that I had recently visited her village and spread the Gospel through audiovisual aids. She realized that children should respect their parents and that she had been a great irritation to her parents. There was no peace with the father and mother, or even with her sister. After seeing our films and hearing the Word of God, she realized and obeyed her parents, who went on to treat her with real compassion. She belongs to a Hindu community, but came to see the Christian films and ended up worshiping the Lord. I thank God for attracting youth to hear the Gospel by media. Now this family has peace among them because God is using media to bring people into His presence.”

MORE THAN ONCE A DAY

Rev Raphael Ongango from Uganda
writes:

“This Torch Kit is a very wonderful tool for evangelism and many people have been attracted to it. We have been receiving many applications, asking us to show this tool and each place we go people don’t want us to leave, even though we have obligations to travel elsewhere. With such a high demand we are moving from one place to another through the entire week, and we are busy showing the Filmstrips. It is unfortunate that we only have 1 Torch Kit. We need 5 Torch Kits in order to serve the demand more fully.”

His Report indicated showings to 3,164 people with 643 responding to Christ.

TORCH KIT SURVIVES OCEAN COLLISION

Evangelist Solomon Ntege from Uganda
writes:

“You cannot measure the degree of my joy and love for the Lord when I received my parcel from InterComm. May God richly bless all of you who kept praying for its safe arrival. This amazing parcel caused trouble on 2 ships, because they collided. Many people listed their merchandise as totally lost in the waters, but mine came through safely because of everyone’s prayers. Jesus went out doing good wherever he traveled, reaching the unreachable, challenging the Samaritans, and InterComm is doing the same thing, as you equip people like me. You began by corresponding, even though you’ve never seen me or heard anyone directly talk about me. You committed to sending these precious weapons to fight evil in my country, and I have promised to share Christ with others through their usage. You will have reached my country with these tools. I pray that God will bless InterComm through our commitment together. Thank you for your ongoing prayers for this work.”

LET THERE BE LIGHT

Dr Chandrakant Mhaske from India
writes:

“Praise the Lord! We thank God for supplying the Torch Projector for our ministry. This Torch Kit is a very active tool for evangelism. We traveled out to a village and planned to show the story, FAITH’S FAMILY, but shortly after arriving the local electricity failed. All of the people, especially the children, were very upset, but my son, located a 12-volt battery, and we hooked it up to the back of the Torch Kit. The showing was able to take place and everyone was amazed to see this little Projector operating on the power of a battery. Not only did many people accept Christ, others decided to give up their habits of alcohol. The Torch Kit is truly a handy instrument. It may not be a motion picture, but it gives us more opportunity to explain the Word of God to our people. We praise God and thank InterComm for making such a tool available.”

His Report indicated 18 village showings to 360 people with 71 accepting Christ.
