PASSIONATE PEN
Passionate Pen
Evangelist John Sokro, from Ho in the SE Volta Region of
Ghana, was introduced to InterComm in 2002 through the
literature ministry, World Missionary Press. These friends
publish Scripture booklets in over 300 languages of the world,
the best known titled, “Help from Above”.
You could call John an opportunist or any number of other
adjectives. He literally pounced upon our offer to be equipped
with media which would help him share Christ to the 21 million
souls who share his country. John has passion. He writes with
passion, and he writes by hand - often!
You grow to respect a man like John, who gets in your face -
demands - tells you what he expects of you - and keeps repeating
his demands over and over. Yes, respect! Because John is
sincere. He sees people dying of HIV/AIDS and other maladies in
large numbers all around him, and he wants to share Christ with
them before they die. Much of John’s demands we cannot provide.
Usually this centers on equipment - hardware or various means of
transportation. We have tried, however, to impress upon John
that we will provide those things which we can.
“Our goal is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the
hinterlands. Unemployment here creates social needs that are
above human comprehension. We see people in living conditions,
who are severely deprived of most necessities. We fight against
hunger, armed robbery, prostitution, and every other form of
evil in crisis. Please help us transform many souls from
darkness to the Light of God through your Christian media. We
are very hard working!”
John shared page after page of how our assistance would help his
country. Eventually a Torch Kit, 7 African drama videos, and an
additional selection of other materials were sent to encourage
his ministry. “The Torch Kit is very good.” John wrote. “It is a
wonderful machine and very helpful in AVangelism. It is
indisputable that some places in my country there is no
electricity at all. Actually the needs in the villages are much
greater than even the cities. So we have chosen to concentrate
our ministry in the remote areas where we will be facing idol
worship, witchcraft, and even fetish spirits. The very first day
we launched the Torch Kit ministry we had an audience of 836
people of which 41 chose to follow Christ. We praise God
that InterComm has provided us with these tools for eternity.”

Mary
Sokro with Twins, Emmanuel & Emmanuela
Beginning in 2002, John and his
team have ministered the Gospel to over 200,000 people face
to face. He’s reported 7,379 decisions for Christ thus far
on his Reports. He shared, “We visited the village Deme. The
chief there is a life-long idol worshiper, who has never been
interested in hearing about the Living God. He allowed us to
present the Torch Ministry. So we showed the African drama
story, JUMA. To our great surprise, after watching this story
and listening to our invitation, he chose to denounce his idols
and accept Christ as his Savior. In fact I am lack of words
(speechless) to express the importance of the use of this
powerful tool. It is a fact that as we show stories at night
time, God is breaking the evil bonds of the devil any time,
anywhere.”
Our TORCH Newsletter is not large enough to share more from
John. Our file on his ministry is thick and full of other
blessings. Please do praise God with us for John Sokro, his
wife, Mary, their 3 small children, and their ministry team in
Ghana.
PHILIPPINES RECORDING PROJECT
Leadership Team in the
Philippines
Gifts for the Philippines
Language Recording Project have surpassed the 50% budget figure,
which now allows us to proceed in setting dates towards the
actual Recording Session on the island of Mindanao. It has been
the tradition of InterComm to proceed on any Project once all of
the known costs anticipated for any overseas trip and recording
project can be safely covered by the proposed budget. Although
this leaves nearly $40,000 still needed in funding for
this important program, which would cover the costs of editing,
laboratories, and equipping, we are willing to commit to
complete the Recording Session, as an encouragement to those who
have been laboring since April of last year to prepare the way.
Please see page 4 as to how you can contribute financially.
God has given us a quality team of National Leaders, headed by
medical doctor, Dr. Nora Laus, and Pastor Ver Nallos. We
are anticipating recording in a Far East Broadcasting studio in
Koronadal City, and we’ve been asked to complete 4 films in the
Ilongo Language, and 2 films in the Cebuano Language. Primary
target for the finished video dramas will be the predominant
Muslim population centered on the island of Mindanao.
Lane and Jill Anderson will depart the USA on Wednesday, March
7, and arrive at the recording location on Saturday, March 10.
Recording is scheduled to begin promptly on Monday, March 12. So
we would appreciate your prayers, as we spend the month of
February organizing ourselves for all aspects of this ministry
outreach. Please pray for God’s blessing on all the preparation
in the Philippines, for those who will come to the microphone
and share their voices, as well as those who will critique the
drama and the quality of language used. Likewise, please pray
that the equipment will function at its peak performance and
that both Lane and Jill will enjoy excellent health during this
time away. Our goal is to build up the body of believers working
together on this Committee, as well as to provide tools which
will greatly impact future ministry.
2006 MINISTRY EQUIPPING
SUMMARY
Over the last 16 years, God has allowed the ministry of
InterComm to provide audiovisual media resources to hundreds of
countries and thousands of individuals around the world. Here is
a specific breakdown of what God permitted in 2006.
130 ministries were equipped in 53 countries, including
locations such as Armenia, Benin, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Cuba,
Egypt, Eritrea, Hungary, Lebanon, Sudan, Ukraine, and Vietnam
just to name a few.
A large percentage of the ministries equipped over the years are
not in a position to send twice yearly Reports, but of the
Reports that have been received last year media was presented to
1,214,905 people with 381,784 decisions for Christ recorded.
This does not include the various television placements that
have occurred around the world, however, as totals for those
programs would not be available.
54 Torch Kits were placed free of charge to National Christian
Leaders.
12 of our 16mm Film Projectors and 84-16mm Films traveled
overseas. An additional 1,894 videos or DVD’s were placed in an
ever-growing number of languages.
We completed the Telugu Language Recording Project in India with
6 new videos. A bonus video was translated into the Oriya
Language, spoken in the neighboring Orissa State.

Significant progress was made in other areas of the world where
Recording Projects had previously taken place. Details of these
Reports and much other work, which has been completed,
highlighting ministry around the world last year, is available
upon request. It would be a pleasure for us to send you the
complete Report. We know it will be a blessing to see what God
has accomplished in just 12 months.
UNREPORTED
From time to time we infer
that ministry’s equipped do not report very regularly. One
example is a ministry first equipped with 16mm Films in 1997.
Rev Gabriel Adebayo from Nigeria had never reported. We
finally received some updates in October of 2004. He listed
101 showings to 92,833 people with 6,756 people accepting Christ.
This, however, was not a complete Report. And since its
receipt, over 2 years ago, he has not updated us with additional
statistics. So, as you pray for God’s servants around the world,
and for the ministry of AVangelism, please understand that many
of these servants, even though well-intentioned, never get the
data into our hands. Yet, God is doing remarkable works of
evangelism because of your faithful prayers. It is absolutely
imperative that we continue praying for these saints and for the
work of the Gospel under their care. How we praise God, even
when we can’t see the end results.
HEARTBEAT by Ken Anderson
(For a period of time, InterComm will be sharing Heartbeats from
the Ken Anderson Films era.)
Even as there was a
great gulf fixed between Lazarus and the rich man, so most
Christians have the idea that a similar gulf exists between
spiritual mediocrity and true discipleship. Don’t believe it. A
former baseball star was interviewed on a network pre-game show. He
said that any team in the league was capable of winning a
championship. The difference lay in mental attitude. So it does in
the Christian life! I have come to believe that the finest of
margins separates the run of the pew Christian from the rare
disciple. At the risk of sounding too simplistic, let me add that it
could well be no more than saying, “I will condition everything I do
on the basis of God’s promises.” Or to be more specific in
this case, “God’s premises.” What would happen, for instance,
if 10 million Christians decided to make seek first the Kingdom
of God and His righteousness the standard of every thought,
every consideration, every decision, and every action. That’s not an
incomprehensible possibility, is it? Yet, how many do it? Or perhaps
we should ask, “How few?”
