DOCTOR - CAN YOU HELP ME?

In medical practices all over the world, certainly this is one of the most common questions. An immediate Yes, however, might not be the response every doctor in the world would be prepared to give, but then we’re talking about Dr. Nora Laus, of the Philippines, who, while giving expert medical assistance to the immediate need of each patient, is much more concerned about their eternal health and whether they will also give her an opportunity to share with them the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Dr Nora Laus, Philippines

Whereas the primary

fundamental purpose for most medical practices around the world is to provide medical aid, the underlying fundamental for the Norala Medical and Dental Evangelism Ministry is first and foremost to provide an opportunity through which the Gospel of Jesus Christ might be preached. Usually while people are waiting for their turn to be evaluated, Christian videos are being played to introduce them to Biblical concepts.

Dr Laus Seeing Patients

From the very beginning, audiovisuals have played a major role in this ministry - initially media was a form of entertaining patients while they waited. Today, through independent campaigns, 3 Evangelists operate evangelism outreach crusades throughout the majority of islands in the lower Philippines. NMDEM is located on Mindano, the 2nd largest and the most southern of the 5,000 islands that constitute what we call the Philippines, which are located in the South China Sea directly north of Indonesia.

In 1999, a ministry called Advancing Native Missions contacted InterComm inquiring whether any of our used Christian films would be available for Dr. Laus and her team. We immediately responded with 10 of our productions. As soon as they arrived on site in early 2000, a crusade was held in a public market. At that very 1st event, 40 children and 60 adults responded to the Gospel invitation. During these early

years, the audiovisuals often were being presented during the period of armed conflict, when the government was actively fighting with Muslim terrorists. It’s fairly common that the Evangelists, working under Dr. Laus’ supervision, also has to contend with the yearly monsoon rain seasons. Dr. Laus has actually set up quite an impressive program, involving several ministry thrusts, all emanating from her headquarters in South Cotabato. Besides the Medical and Dental Clinics, there is tribal ministry, movie theater showings, elementary school showings, Bible study group ministry, plus open air crusades with film ministry. There’s a Bible Training Center, church planting, pastoral and missionary training. Horses are given to pastors to make their traveling ministry more effective. Goats are given to young Christian women to assist in livelihood projects. In certain areas garden projects are promoted with the top 5 best gardens receiving prizes. All this to increase the nutrition in the families of the poor Filipinos in the area.

Although Dr. Laus is a general practitioner, she also does minor surgery. The majority of her practice has been to cultural minorities. By giving free clinics, multiple doors open for ministry opportunities, particularly around the Muslim population, where she lives. When moving out to some of the remote villages, the roads are often so bad it can take 10 men to extract the jeep out of the mud and ruts on the nations undeveloped roads. One of the Film Evangelists reported, “Wherever we conducted film showings, people were blessed and lives were changed. We have gone into many critical areas but have never been harmed. Instead the people have loved and thanked us. We have traveled to very remote hilly locations, sometimes hiking 5 kilometers or more. Even when we are exhausted, God takes over, touches hearts, and the lives of these mountain people are changed forever. So many souls have been ushered to God through this ministry. For this, we thank you so very much for your provision of these Christian materials.”

So far we’ve had the privilege of providing 19 of our used Christian films and 18 of our Christian videos. These have been put to very effective ministry outreach now that Dr. Laus has secured a Video Projector. Recently she wrote, “All of our effort for missions, both in terms of medical outreach and multi-media ministries are being rewarded by the hundreds of souls being ushered into God’s Kingdom. You can rest assured that you, our partners at InterComm, will receive a big share of God’s rewards for what is being accomplished on this mission field. Thank you so much for all the things you have been doing for us, helping us to get the message of God’s love through audiovisual evangelism. May the Lord richly bless you.”

Since early 2000, Dr. Laus and her evangelism pastors, working closely with her, have seen over 15,000 people claim Jesus Christ as personal Savior through this dynamic medical and missions ministry in the southern Philippines. Praise God for people of character like Dr. Laus. Pray for Dr. Laus and her team that God will continue to provide the tools to reach individuals one by one for Jesus Christ.

REBEL ACTIVITY

Rev Peter L Tibi, who has established a major ministry outreach into Sudan, writes:

“The Sudanese people are hungry to hear God’s Word. They need hope during this time of war. I’m encouraged by their response to the Torch Kit and videos we have shown. There is a real need for teaching the Word of God in its fullness. It continues to be difficult to travel by land due to rebel activities. Please pray for my safety and transport in the areas that are not secured.”

Reported 52 showings with 1,005 people accepting Christ.

THE HINTERLANDS

Evangelist Frank Ohene-Agyekum of Ghana writes:

“Our Torch showings are now taking place mostly in villages rather than towns. We have moved our attention to the hinterlands. We went in particular to a village called Amasadran, and we do not believe the Gospel had been preached here before. No sign of any church activity could be seen. We showed them one of the drama stories, and to our great surprise 12 people gave their lives to Jesus. We now have planted a church in the village of Amasadran. Praise God for this new work of the Gospel.”

Reports indicate 32 showings to 814 people with 98 individuals accepting Christ.

HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson

Let me conclude our unveiling of the 6th and 7th Senses with these additional words.

The more I study my Bible the more clearly I see the consistency of Satan’s tactics. His first endeavor is to prevent salvation from occurring. If salvation does take place, then he extends his efforts to confuse the new believer into a life of discouragement and defeat. Demons stand alert, ready for their master’s command to overwhelm the weak believer.

To the amazement of both the good and evil looking on, it would appear the weak Christian often misinterprets the commands and counsel of Scripture. It is the so-called Christian believers who manipulate their own doom and defeat by committing their time, talent, and energy to interpreting

Scriptures in such a way that it serves the devil without his needing to enter the scene at all.

Throughout the Bible, however, admonition after admonition urges the children of God to activate the dynamic of 2 Timothy 3:16 and 17, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness that the man of God may be completely equipped for every good work.” There you have it. The pulse and breadth of the 7th Sense.

Let’s turn back to the gem we discovered in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts I think towards you, says the Lord. “Thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you a future and a hope.” A nutshell statement of the 7th Sense.

So, if you would like to activate the 7th Sense in your life, read Jeremiah 29:12, “When you will call upon me and go and pray to me and I will listen to you.” The demons of hell flee, leaving you to experience the purifying reality of the 7th Sense. Like this, Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all of your heart.” Hallelujah. You are ready to pursue by means of in-depth meditation pure Bible teaching to guide you in your transforming experiences. For practice, here are some key 7th Sense Scriptures for meditation. 2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrew 13:20,21, Galatians 5:22,23, Psalm 139:23,24, Hebrews 12:1, 2 Timothy 2:15. These Scripture will help you transition in the living of your life as a 7th Sense Christian. Biblical meditation is the modus operandi of the 7th Sense.
