AUDIOVISUAL MINISTRY

ALWAYS NEEDED

The little country of Guyana is located just east of Venezuela on the north central coast of South America.  A tropical rain forest covers more than 80% of this former British colony, home to nearly 1 million English-speaking people.

One short decade ago, Rev. Jerry Quamina responded to our letter inquiring whether he had gained a heart for media ministry while in Advanced Leadership Training at the Haggai Institute.  “I was just sharing with a friend about my training in audiovisuals.  It was not possible for me to secure a Torch Kit, which would be well suited to ministry here.”

Pastor Quamina was already invested in outreach ministries through his church such as Evangelism Explosion, Substance Abuse Ministry, and Prison Ministry Seminars, but he was ready for a new challenge.  “Audiovisual Ministry is always needed so we can communicate effectively.”

“I am happy to report that the Torch Kit has arrived safely,” he finally confirmed.  “I’m hoping to develop an audio tape with music and sound effects for an upcoming program we are planning.  I will keep you informed.”  He was so excited he reported his very first showing to an audience of 60 adults and kids.  6 had responded to a salvation invitation.  “The message in the Filmstrip brought them to a point of decision at the end.”  Video selections have been added to expand his AVangelism outreach.

So far most energies have been directed towards youth ministries with good results.  To date Reports have reflected 188 individuals have chosen to follow Christ following media usage.  Working closely with his young people, Jerry has even pursued a drama group, who watch the stories and also act out the drama.  Following every performance, filmstrip showing, or video, an opportunity to accept Christ is

provided.  “It has been very exciting to us and our Sunday school has been growing because of our frequent media emphasis.”

Many Christian leaders, like Jerry, use media more selectively as part of their total vision for ministry.  What’s noticeable to us is how God consistently brings fruit through their labors and Jerry’s church continues to grow.  We truly praise God for pastors such as Rev. Jerry Quamina. 

EVERY TORCH KIT DOING TREMENDOUS WORK

AMAZING TORCH KIT

Evangelist John Sokro from Ghana writes:

AFRAID TO COME OPENLY

Rev YL Steward from India writes:

“Most of the villages we have been visiting are not Christian majority villages.  Kangku Village is very hard for sharing the Gospel, but for the first time our Evangelists were able to take the Gospel, because of the Torch Kit, and many turned out to hear the Gospel stories.  In this way God’s seed has been sown to all of these villages.  Many young people and children are responsive to the Gospel, but they are afraid to come openly due to the fear of the elder people on whom they depend for their lives and very survival.  So please do continue to uphold our new converts so that they will not go back to their old lives.” 10 showings to 244 people with 6 responding to the Gospel.

Behavioral Psychologists tell us we talk to ourselves!  Not just occasionally but at the rate of 450 to 1200 words per minute and what we say to ourselves in this subconscious exercise makes the difference between fear and faith, apprehension and confidence, often failure and success.  This theory or fact as the case may be certainly illustrates anew the enormous dimension of potential of the human brain.  We’re continually programming this computer, either negatively or positively, either for selfish and meaningless pursuits or truly for the glory of God.
