TALK OF THE TOWN
|
|
| “On the Right,
Rev. Frank Ohene-Agyekum and His Team.” |
“Greetings to
you in the precious and powerful name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ. We have the honour and most respectfully wish to introduce
the above-mentioned ministry to you. We have an inter-denominational
and evangelical tradition. We engage evangelism in prisons,
hospitals, children’s homes, etc. We should be very grateful if your
ministry could offer us assistance in any kind. We wish our humble
appeal will meet your kind consideration for the spread of the
Gospel.”
This Letter of Introduction from Rev Frank Ohene-Agyekum
arrived in August 1996 from his Nazarene Evangelistic ministry,
located in Accra, Ghana. Typical of so many first contacts we
always wonder whether or not the heart of an AVangelist is soon to
be unleashed, once equipped. Pastor Frank has been a great blessing.
In a country that typically presents us with many ministry leads, we
seldom find leaders, who choose to become good communicators.
Typically, once equipped, Ghana contacts go silent. Not Pastor
Frank. He wrote, “It has been our fervent prayer that one day God
will touch someone’s heart to come to our aid. We’ll be grateful for
any assistance that comes from you.”
By December, a Torch Kit was on the way by surface mail - yes, slow,
but less expensive, and quite reliable, as we have seen through the
years. 4 months later it arrived. “We have not the words to
describe our joy when we received your gift of the Torch Kit. We are
going to put to the reach of other young ministries like ours to
also use it in their outreaches. Therefore, many souls are going to
benefit from it.”
Pastor Frank’s 1st Report listed 21 showings. “This media
tool is very very effective for Bible studies, Revivals, and Youth
Programs. It has received recommendation from many churches where we
have loaned it already. They usually show the story 2 or 3 times
before returning it. So far FAITH’S FAMILY and THE LIVING BOOK have
been a great help to many. Your Torch Kit is now the talk of the
town in Christian circles. Personally, I have used THE LIVING BOOK
so many times in my own church that alone could have filled the
whole Media Report Form.”
In January 2001, a letter shared, “With consultation of the State
Ministry of the Interior, we are now establishing extensive prison
ministry in most of the country’s prison yards. Our last 2 showings
at Nsawan Medium Prison Barracks was very encouraging. Many of the
inmates, who made salvation decisions, were in tears and asked God
to forgive them of their sins. A great revival has broken out now in
this prison, and many inmates are asking for Bibles.”
Over the years we have sent Pastor Frank videos and many other
ministry items. Churches have been planted in dozens of villages as
well. As Pastor Frank often teaches at the local Cornerstone
Discipleship Training School, many graduates come to him to borrow
his Torch Kit. Sometimes they even give him information to report.
Often they forget, but God keeps the books. We praise Him for this.
Video has been a huge part of his ministry lately, but then came his
note of December 2006. “I traveled to northern Ghana, which is
mostly Muslim and lacks modern technology. I was there planting
churches, using the Torch Kit. Many of the Filmstrips have gone bad
due to overuse. Might you replace these, please?”
We have been blessed to receive Reports of 361 showings from
Pastor Frank to an audience of over 12,300 people. 2,215 have sought
Christ. Please keep praying for the harvest!

LOOK
WHAT YOU HELPED INTERCOMM ACCOMPLISH in
2007!
Continued from last month
** Vietnam Language Recording Project Set-Up
- Meetings took place in April with a
National Committee established, leadership
chosen, and videos selected. This work has
continued throughout 2007, and Lane and Jill
are in Vietnam all of March overseeing the
recording of 4 films into the Vietnamese
Language.
** SAT-7 Arabic Broadcasts - Broadcasts
throughout the Middle East and Northern
Africa continue in Arabic and Farsi. Master
copies of the videos have been donated to
InterComm so that in 2008 copies can be made
available to our contacts throughout these
areas, expanding InterComm’s Language
Library.
** Telugu Language Recording Project -
Project Leader, Shalem Israel, used the
recording equipment donated by InterComm to
record one of InterComm’s Bible stories into
the Savara Language, a tribal language of
India and distributed about 30 disks. He has
also distributed approximately 30,000 Telugu
Language disks all over Andhra Pradesh.
** Sri Lanka Language Recording Project -
Leader, Priyantha Senapatiratne reports that
he has recently distributed 530 video disks
in Sinhala and Tamil in the villages of Sri
Lanka in 2007. Another contact, Feix Mendis,
has duplicated 360 disks in the Sinhala
Language to distribute in his ministry area.
** Ghana Distribution. Challenges
Enterprises under the direction of Benjamin
Boateng has duplicated and distributed 360
video disks for use in Ghana and other parts
of Africa.
**Audiovisual Training continues in
Singapore and Maui at the Haggai Institute.
The delegates each year, who receive this
training, are contacted and equipped with
InterComm Media Tools.
In countries, where a Language Recording
Project has previously taken place, hundreds
of unreported duplicate copies of videos are
being placed without being registered with
InterComm. These constitute each year
thousands of ministries using media not
directly connected to InterComm for Media
Reports. TV Broadcasts, video sales, and
mass distribution take place each year, and
no specific Reports are ever received.
Praise God with us for what He is doing
through InterComm, both seen and unseen!

THE LIVING BOOK
Rev Nelson
Usman from Gboko, Nigeria wrote:
“Mr. Asema Atu, an octogenarian, recently found Christ along with
his grandchildren in their remote ancient settlement. Even though he
had many friends in Canada, and he had traveled to visit them in
days long ago, he had never fallen in love with Jesus. Thanks be to
God, the Lord showed Him the way of life through the use of the
Torch Kit and the simple dry cell battery. He confessed Jesus as the
Lord of his life. Thanks be to God. The Filmstrip, THE LIVING BOOK,
was the medium for this miracle.”
Recent Report: 6 showings to 99 people and 85 accepted Christ.

VIETNAMESE LANGUAGE RECORDING PROJECT
Keep Lane and Jill and the National
Team in Dalat, Vietnam in your prayers this
month. Recording will start March 3,
continue through all of March, with
completion by April 10. Much work to
accomplish under what may be difficult
circumstances. Pray that the evil one will
not be allowed to do any mischief through
the Communist authorities and that the
National Team will be kept from any future
repercussions. The result: 4 new videos,
speaking Vietnamese. Pray for good quality
voices, drama, good lip sync, and joy in
doing the work.

OUTREACH CAMPS
Miss Dee Vena
Koyya from West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India wrote:
“We have such a wonderful opportunity to share with rural and
tribal souls, because of your blessed prayers and cooperation. We
still face many problems with the Hindu zealots. Please pray and
continue to help us. I have received your packet of 6 Telugu Video
Disks, and these are very useful for us. We are fully involved in
ministry to remote area villages through outreach camps.”
Sent a Media Report of 50 showings to 2, 042 people with 54
responding to Christ.
SHARED COMMENTS
AVangelist
Stephen Ayombisah from Darkwa, Ghana wrote:
“We’re most grateful to God for bringing us this far. Although we
face a lot of challenges, God has been faithful to us. We also thank
God for using InterComm to bless us through the Video and Filmstrip
ministry.
Throughout our showings of the Filmstrips, viewers have shared
comments, such as ‘Pride leads to a fall. Foolish words should be
avoided by Christians. We should be kind to our enemies. We should
lead our friends to Christ.’”
He sent a Report of 8 showings to 449 people with 88 responding
to the Gospel.
HEARTBEAT by Ken Anderson
(For a period of time, InterComm will be sharing Heartbeats from
the Ken Anderson Films era.)
“I want to be there
when it gets tough.” So said George Piwang, one of 3 Ugandans in
my AVangelism Training Class in Singapore. George and his fiancé
both come from families marked for extinction by rival tribesmen in
their beleaguered nation. One night George was taken from his home
at gunpoint, and marched through the darkness to a secluded spot
where he was to be shot. “But God filled my heart with peace,”
he told me. “I witnessed to the gunmen, not as some kind of ploy,
but because if this were the last human being for me to meet on this
earth, I wanted to have done my duty as an ambassador for Christ.”
George didn’t die that night. He can’t quite understand it. The
gunmen, after several gestures which indicated he meant to shoot,
told George to run. “I never ran so fast in all of my life.”
George said. “I was sure he was going to have the sport of
shooting a running target in the moonlight.”
Coming from a family of considerable wealth, George could easily
move to the safer soil of Kenya or even to England. But he went
directly home to his country, Uganda, armed with a complete set of
audiovisual tools. “I want to be there when it gets tough.”
The words ring in my thoughts and deep deep into my heart.
