MEDIA TRANSFORMS DODOMA
Tanzania
is an East African country located just south of Kenya, along
the Indian Ocean. Years before InterComm was founded, we met
Rev. Fuataeli Munisi at the Amsterdam Conference for Itinerant
Evangelists. He was highly motivated towards Media Evangelism,
but with limited resources. Not to be discouraged he pondered
what could be done to share his evangelism dream with his fellow
countrymen.
First he organized a choir of 20 people, and they traveled by
foot to various villages. God blessed! Eventually, he rented
16mm media, and the result was, “The most successful meeting we
have held.”
Faithfully, he moved forward through the years, using media
whenever money to rent was available. In
2000, we
found his correspondence in some very old files. Our letter
found him months later and through the magic of email, we
received his excited response. Wherever his church had placed
him, he continued to enthusiastically use media to reach souls
for Christ. At that time, he was ministering to the Masai people
with encouraging results. Could we help him now with equipment?
God provided a courier, and in June 2002, he received his own
personal 16mm Projector, Spare Bulbs, and 4 dramatic Christian
Films. His letter simply stated, “Asante Sana”, which in
Kiswahili means “Thank you very much”.
Later he
wrote, “I can’t wait to send you my first Report of what the
Film Ministry is doing here. Jesus is good. He has given me an
evangelistic team of 14 committed Christians to help me with
ministry to unreached people. We also like to sing a lot with
the various ethnic groups before our film showings take place.
Jesus is doing marvelous things.” To date, Evangelist Munisi has
reported over 50 showings to more than 20,000 people with
thousands of souls joining newly planted local churches.
Nearly a
year later he wrote, “I am starting a small group outreach in
private homes. We could now make use of the 8 Kiswahili Language
videos you offered, and we would welcome the English Language
and African stories as well.” All arrived safely. “The videos
are now running here in Dodoma Town. Many families are inviting
me for small group meetings. I have started a pastoral
counseling unit to meet the need. We are active almost every
night with 8 to 26 people. After each showing, discussions go on
for hours. This is the golden chance to touch lives for Christ.”
More recently he wrote, “Today I am writing to tell you that
after 9 years of ministry in the Dodoma area out to the Masai
jungle, God has moved me to a new mission at Kondoa, a heavily
Muslim area. We greatly need your prayers for this new effort. I
will always thank God for my ministry at Dodoma. Let me give one
example. We began a work at a village called Magumgu where we
found 8 souls interested in the Gospel. In 9 years, 650 souls
have come to salvation out of paganism. We give God Himself the
glory. He is good. 6 new churches now exist where none could be
found, and God has done this through the film ministry. It is my
prayer that God will open similar doors in my new location where
85% of the people are Muslim. Please pray for us.”
Please join us in remembering Evangelist Munisi and his
committed Christian team.
HANA VIDEO
MINISTRY
Challenge Enterprises of Ghana is an example of a ministry
distributing InterComm Media that does not result in listings of
showings, listings of audience, or listings of people coming to
Christ. Over the last 6 years, however, they have placed at
least 3,500 videos of various titles for ministry and personal
use throughout their country. Just imagine the potential of
3,500 missionaries, each waiting for an opportunity to be viewed
so that they can share their Gospel message. That, in reality,
is what a Christian video in the hands of a praying believer in
a foreign country has at their disposal. An important
opportunity, as you pray for InterComm, is to remember these
types of ministry potentials. Perhaps in Heaven we will get a
greater glimpse of what God has chosen to do through this type
of distribution of His Word in the country of Ghana. Thank you
for continuing to join us in praying for God’s blessing for this
African country.
INTERESTING
AND USEFUL
Mr Rabenja Andrianavalona of Madagascar writes:
“We thank God that He allows us to share His Gospel in different
places. Everywhere we go we are bringing always this interesting
and useful tool, so precious. This time we brought the Torch
during our holiday time where we ministered to many different
churches. We even reached the capital, but also some villages
where we traveled over 12 miles on very poor roads. The trip
took 6 hours. Thank you for your prayers. God is producing
fruit.”
They reported 10 showings to 1500 people with 25 accepting
Christ.
LEARNING
GOOD LESSONS
Pastor Rathna D Kumar of India writes:
“These drama Filmstrip stories are very helpful for our
ministry. By using these tools, many people are gathering to see
the stories. Children and also their parents are coming to know
about Jesus and are accepting Christ as Savior. Many of the
children are also learning good lessons, such as love,
forgiveness, sacrifice, and the spirit of helps, simply through
the Filmstrip stories. We have ministered to over 1,000 people
with 166 salvation decisions. Praise God for the Torch Kit.”
HEARTBEAT
By Ken
Anderson
I was sitting in my room at the Mission’s Guest House in the
Philippines, where we were doing a film production, when the
phone rang. It was the Field Director. “Man, Ken, have I got a
story for you.” I came to his office where the “Story” awaited
me.
Thank You Faithful InterComm
Supporters!
Because of your faithful
support, InterComm Media
Tools were placed with 147
ministries in 44 countries
in 2004. 72 Torch Kits
and 1,327 videos or disks
were placed free of charge
to worthy recipients.
Most importantly, there were
283,720 reported salvation
decisions.

He
introduced me to the wife of a successful Nebraska rancher,
experiencing the emotion of finally setting foot on foreign
mission soil for the first time. She shared that from childhood
she had wondered what it would be like to receive God’s call to
the mission field. Then, during her senior year at the
University of Nebraska, the wife of the Philippines Field
Director had spoken at a women’s gathering in her dorm. The
impact of the meeting was her sharing with us that God had laid
it upon her heart to challenge young women of her denomination,
specifically one young lady from this gathering, who would
partner with her in helping American Christians understand the
opportunity in missions today.
The missionary came to my table, as the others were leaving. She
put a firm hand on my shoulder and said, “You are the person,
aren’t you?” Without replying, I pointed to the engagement ring
on my left hand.
Later that day, my fiancé reacted hurt and confused. “Are we
canceling the wedding date?” Tears filled his eyes. “Marrying
you is what makes my call valid,” I told him. “I’m to be a model
other women can follow.” The 2 of us continued serving on the
Inter Varsity Student Missions Committee on our campus. Our
university also offered excellent training, providing many
overseas missions applications with scores of vocations suited
for the mission field.
Missions was quite different back when it was necessary to spend
weeks on a ship to reach your place of God’s calling, as
compared to now when you can fly from Nebraska to the
Philippines in less than 24 hours. When email would abolish
limitations of geography from any 2 points on earth.
As a child, my husband had early in life committed himself to
becoming a Christian cattleman. Later, skilled at making money,
he would finance the salaries of ministries and missionaries
overseas. His first candidate became his wife. He would make
possible her representations of overseas missions opportunity to
members of Christian colleges and churches throughout North
America. Thus, together, they realized their missions calling.
