I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED AUDIOVISUAL MINISTRY
“Dear Sir, I have
the honor to request for a Torch Kit. Please, one pastor came to my
area to evangelize among the lost, and he showed Filmstrips to
communicate to the people. He gave me your address. I hope my
request will be considered in your good office.”
We enjoy
introducing you each month to individuals God has allowed InterComm
to equip and encourage. Evangelist MK Yeboah of Suhum, Ghana
discovered our ministry simply by observing a countryman using a
simple but powerful new media, the Torch Kit. As a wise Evangelist,
he quickly realized AVangelism drew a much larger audience and
provided a greater opportunity to share Jesus Christ.
“I have a heart
for the unreached. Man must be saved. I have made a vow to the
Lord Almighty God that I will carry the Gospel to fulfill the Great
Commission,”
he wrote in an
early letter. For the past 15 years, he has worked as a church
planter, and as his Pastor wrote about him, “He is always an
effective tool among our church workers, diligent, reliable, and of
stable character, as he devotes time and care to new converts.”
We praise God to
be connected with such servants, held in high esteem. Evangelist
Yeboah is located in East Ghana, a small country of just over 20
million people, located in West Africa between Cote D’Ivoire and
Togo on the Gulf of Guinea. Average yearly income is roughly
$2,000. Living is difficult in their struggling economy, and life
expectancy is well below 60 years of age.
“I’ve never
experienced using any audiovisual tools in my ministry. May the
Lord bless you for giving me this opportunity to fulfill my vision
in evangelism.”
Correspondence
and eventual shipping take time, but soon enough not only a Torch
Kit, but a large selection of video and special training tools for
the Sunday school were on the way. “I have received my parcel on
June 11, 2004, and there was no problem about it. Now I believe
that you are going to help me fulfill my vision, because I made a
vow to God that I will carry the Gospel message throughout my
lifetime to fulfill the Great Commission.”
The harvest
began, as noted on his first Report. “We are overjoyed with the
tools of AVangelism. People show very good interest to listen to
the message about our Lord. With these tools, we have planted a new
church at Asuboi near Suhum. Now in our 3 new branches we have 120
members worshiping.”
Three Media
Reports have arrived in a timely fashion, listing showings to
5,050 people and 53 accepting Christ as Savior. With faithful
men, such as Evangelist Yeboah, these numbers will grow each year
into the future, because you make it all possible. May God bless
you ever so much for making such ministries productive.
PHILIPPINES PROJECT SET-UP MEETINGS
On April 24 and
25, organizational meetings will be held in Cotabato, Philippines to
present a Language Recording Project, tentatively scheduled for
February/March 2007. Lane and Jill Anderson will be traveling to
the Philippines after completion of the Recording Phase of the
Telugu Language Recording Project in Visakhapatnam, India.
Please keep these meetings in your prayers, as key leadership will
be chosen, videos selected, and project details discussed. Ask God
to bring clear understanding to those attending the meetings, an
enthusiasm for the Project, and evidence of a heart for Media
Evangelism in the Ilonggo and/or Cebuano Languages.
PASTORAL MINISTRY
Rev Myint Nwe
was
the Project Director for our Burmese Language Recording in
Yangon, Myanmar, a number of years back. He writes:
“In Myanmar,
there are many unreached villages in the hilly regions and jungles
near the Thai border. We try each year to go into these more
difficult places to sow Gospel seeds, as well as encourage the local
village pastors. On one such trip, the Pastor with whom we had
ministered before, said that he was extremely upset, depressed, and
discouraged in his ministry to the jungle villages, because of lack
of physical needs as well as spiritual needs.
First we
ministered to his physical needs by providing him food, clothing,
medicine, mosquito nets, and even blankets to bless him. Then we
provided some training, some Bible teaching, and some spiritual
encouraging. Even then, he felt that he wanted to give up his
ministry work, because he just was not finding satisfaction. He was
not happy in life.
Finally, we
watched the Burmese Language version of the film, JOURNEY TO THE
SKY, the story of Sadhu Sundar Singh from India. Afterwards, he
said that his thoughts, his feelings, and that his mind were
completely changed. When he compared his situation to that of the
Sadhu, presented in the video, he realized his troubles were very
small by comparison and that God gave spiritual strength to the
Sadhu in a time of great trouble. The Pastor realized that God
would also give him spiritual strength in a time of troubles. He
recommitted his life to Christ to continue to work in the ministry
faithfully in the jungle locations. How we praise God for this
spiritual victory in the life of one of His servants.”
NOT COMMON
Mr Pius Ozowa of
Nigeria
writes:
“We thank God,
who called us into the ministry of reconciliation. We are asking
God to help us to be faithful in doing His work, as we have much
area to cover with the Gospel through Film Showings. This ministry
is not common. So many people come out each time we come with Film
Showings, and this allows us to share the Gospel and to pray with
them. Pray for us that God will help us.”
He reported
showings to 22,180 people with 1,294 accepting Christ.
WALKING INTO THE KINGDOM
Pastor John Namun
of Papua New Guinea
writes:
“ASHA, THE BLIND
GIRL and THE JUDGE Filmstrips have touched many people’s lives,
especially in the area of youth and community school showings.
These 2 Filmstrips are very powerful evangelism media showing
tools. These are the first 2 we have learned how to use, but we’ll
be making use of other ones in the near future. You will see that a
total of 132 youth have walked into the Kingdom after only 7
days of showings with just 2 Filmstrips. We can sense the anointing
of God upon this ministry, and we will continue to pray that God
will reveal the right Filmstrip stories for the right location in
the future. We thank you so much for this gift from God, which has
already touched so many lives.”
HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson
One of the most
difficult aspects about retiring and slowing down in general was
having to give up the classes I was allowed to teach at the Haggai
Institute. Let me tell you, however, about the challenges some of
the participants faced.
Some come from
such impoverished nations that they can scarcely find the money to
buy a Projector Bulb much less a 16mm Projector. One of the
concepts I tried to leave with the men was simply this - When God
gives a vision, God also gives the provision. It may not always be
possible to function with high tech, as we call it. So we often
trained people how to function in low or no tech.
I think we first
worlders miss something in supposedly not needing to trust God as
much as some of our brothers and sisters do from other parts of the
world. “Not needing to trust?” Letting such a
question cross your mind can be a challenging discipline. Of
course, we need to trust Him, but in a different way. Our
compatriots in the Third World trust God for the basic supply of
their everyday needs. We, on the other hand, blessed with such
abundance, need to learn how to trust our Lord to guide us in the
right use of our abundance. In fact, I believe that vision for us
can be diminished by the very impact of affluence. Yes, we do need
to trust God - Trust Him to show us how to make the very most of the
affluence that God has given us for His glory.
