GOD’S CIVIL SERVANT

“K. Ebenezer Samuel Sharing Media Evangelism.”

“I was raised in a good Christian family. Yet, even as a college student I remained confused in matters regarding religion. One day I accompanied my father, as he shared Christ on a simple village street corner. ‘There is Now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus’, my father preached. The word ‘Now’ pricked my attention. Was I in Christ Now? I became distressed and after the meeting I rushed home, knelt down, and began pouring out my heart in prayer, confessing all my sins and asking God’s forgiveness. My heavy heart became light and all my confusion melted away! At last I felt the Joy of my salvation.”

"K. Ebenezer Samuel Sharing in the Village."

Mr. K Ebenezer Samuel from Vizianagaram, A.P., India completed his Civil Engineering Education, but chose to join a Christian organization where his skills could serve God’s purposes. 12 years of extensive travel, especially to the most needy in northern India, caused Mr. Samuel to launch his own ministry - Elim Evangelical Ministries in 1994. Initially a church planting and literature ministry, they were encouraged to contact InterComm through our friends at Scripture Booklet Publisher, World Missionary Press. By late 1999, 4 of our videos were hand carried to Evangelist Samuel and quickly put into service. “We received the video on November 12. I immediately began organizing a team of Evangelists to use them. We want to show them in many different places to a wide variety of people groups. We will send you a Report.”

"K. Ebenezer Sharing in the City with Video."

Like so many with good intentions, however, the Reports did not get sent. In a letter 6 months later, he mentioned 1 showing of our film, PILGRIM’S PROGRESS. “A Mr. Balram (Balram is a Hindu god.) Had heard about this film many times but had never managed to see it until now. The content deeply moved him. At the completion he prayed for God’s touch upon his soul.”

In faith we sent a Torch Kit. Having arrived at the Central Post Office in Chennai, it was lost in a massive fire. It took a year to be certain. We again in faith sent a second Torch Kit, and this finally arrived in Evangelist Samuel’s hands in November, 2001. Regular Reports did not come through, but a hint of God’s blessing encouraged us in 2002. In a short email, Evangelist Samuel shared, “By God’s immense grace we were able to do much. Tomorrow we have a Torch Kit program at one of our rural locations, and we know many thirsty souls will attend. Your ministry tools have come at the right time! We are extensively using the Torch Kit and Videos to reach people with the Gospel message.”

Another year passed with no Reports, but then he wrote, “I have some co-workers who cannot speak English. Even though they continue to use the media, they could not send the Report information due to their hectic schedules.”

Thus we continue to pray for and encourage Evangelist Samuel, and we finally did receive 1 Report of 80 showings to over 900 people with 20 to 30 responding for salvation. Certainly many more souls have been touched through the years because of this ministry. So please keep praying, even when these saints do not report as we might wish. God’s work is being accomplished. You can be certain!

VIETNAM LANGUAGE RECORDING PROJECT

Please remember to pray as the Recording Session for this Project winds down with scheduled completion April 10. Pray that the team in-country will remain faithful to see it through to the end with high quality work and that they will be protected from any scrutiny by the Communist government. Ask God to give Lane and Jill good health, patience, love, and perseverance. Thanks so much for sharing in the Project in this way. We hope the diaries helped you catch a glimpse of this year’s major overseas thrust!

SHARED COMMENTS

AVangelist Stephen Ayombisah from Darkwa, Ghana wrote:

“We’re most grateful to God for bringing us this far. Although we face a lot of challenges, God has been faithful to us. We also thank God for using InterComm to bless us through the Video and Filmstrip ministry.
Throughout our showings of the Filmstrips, viewers have shared comments, such as ‘Pride leads to a fall. Foolish words should be avoided by Christians. We should be kind to our enemies. We should lead our friends to Christ.’”

He sent a Report of 8 showings to 449 people with 88 responding to the Gospel.

SEEING IS BELIEVING

Evangelist Samuel Dyobo from Ghana writes:

“My mission is to share Christ in many creative ways within my community. One of the best ways I use is showing Christian films or videos. A popular adage says ‘Seeing is believing’. So it is with showing films in evangelism settings, because these shows bring together both believers and unbelievers to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Film shows attract the village folks to hear the Word of God, who otherwise would not draw near. Through hard work and dedication, I submit this Report from ministry to 11 communities in my country.”

13 showings to 828 people with 69 people accepting Jesus Christ as Lord.

DOLLAR A DAY

Rev Jackson Dimba from Malawi writes:

“It is our desire to build God’s victorious army by discipling people through our free gifts of audiovisual materials from InterComm. So far many lives have been changed. Churches have been encouraged to move on in outreach and do follow up ministry. A dollar a day set aside for InterComm would greatly enhance our ability to reach many unreached people groups in our country. We praise God that 2 Muslim families gave their lives to Jesus. How happy I am for being among the people who share Christ with others through these videos and Filmstrips.”

540 showings to 4,142 people with 2,285 responding for salvation.

INDISPENSABLE

Rev Thomas Abugah of Ghana writes:

“We praise God for what He is doing in the lives of people, who listen to the media presentations, since we began working with your material. So many have moved on and become regular church members. We trust the Lord to add more souls to His Kingdom in time. The Media has really been of a great help to my ministry, and I will say that they are indispensable. My ministry is still anticipating the safe arrival of the other items you are sending me, and I am praying that God will bless InterComm as you continue to provide ministry tools for our AVangelism outreach.”

11 showings to 495 people with 204 responding.

GREEN TOWN

Ayub and Doris Shams of Pakistan write:

“We visited 7 different areas around our city recently and shared the Good News through Media Evangelism among different levels of people, but most of them were young. In the Green Town area, a gathering of 50 young boys and girls came together and spent time in Bible studies, games, and then watched the Urdu film, ELEPHANT BOY. All of these activities were so very different and interesting for them, especially the film, which had a great impact on their lives. So much so that 40 of the boys and girls made the most important decision of their lives to accept Jesus as their personal Savior. I had 6 other meetings at different locations. The same film was displayed, and we showed it to over 400 individuals overall. Many more came to the Lord through these meetings. These visits were very encouraging, and I’m hoping that in the future we will have many more Media Ministry outreaches as well. We are very grateful to you and the Almighty One, who gives us opportunities to serve Him.”

Submitted a Report of 16 showings to 515 people with 220 responding to the Gospel message.

HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson

(For a period of time, InterComm will be sharing Heartbeats from the Ken Anderson Films era.)

Dawn breaks just now across the Indian countryside. I’m on a train due to arrive in Delhi in 1 hour. From the window one gets a glimpse of the drama that is India. Lights flicker in squalid farm houses. At one intersection a big truck awaits its turn behind a long line of bullock carts, farmers bringing their crops to market. Wheat fields are beginning to turn golden, a few ready for harvest. It’s those wheat fields that keep speaking to me. For as we all know, Jesus spoke of “fields white unto harvest”. But is it really true in India?

I'm sharing a compartment with an engineer, who has made quite clear to me his disdain of the USA. He’s hardly a candidate for an American’s witness, but I’ve tried. In every one of the profuse villages I see, Hinduism is on the upbeat. It’s fanatic - traditional in the villages, sophisticated and intellectual for many in the cities. But it’s there, staunch and growing. How do we put in the spiritual sickle for people like this? Frankly, I don’t know.

I wonder what difference it might make if more people really cared. If I prayed. I wonder what difference I could make, if I cared more!
