NIGERIA - A PROFILE OF SUCCESS

Lane and Jill Anderson returned in mid-April from a wonderfully successful Hausa Language Recording Project in Nigeria. The couple, who head up InterComm’s International Ministries, were beaming with pride, as the Nigerian Leadership

Committee greatly honored the Lord through their preparation and commitment.

Dr. Stephen Yohanna early in the process of organizing the Committee identified the key issue - Nigerian Ownership of the Project. This became the fundamental driving force for those committed to the success of this effort. The finished work would provide serious evangelism tools for God’s servants, ministering to Hausa speakers throughout Nigeria and its neighboring countries, the majority of whom are Muslims.

All recording was easily completed many days ahead of schedule due to 3 primary reasons.

1. Superb translation preparation and access to voices daily.

2. Very quiet Recording Studio.

3. Generator electricity when Nigerian power was unavailable.

The 5 films selected by the

Committee included John Bunyan’s famous allegory, PILGRIM’S PROGRESS, a favorite around the world, 2 African productions, THE CHARM and SLIPPERY PATH, plus the children’s Bible story of JONAH, and finally STOLEN WATERMELON, an animated story for older kids.

Please pray with us that God will greatly bless these tools, as they are edited and returned to Nigeria for evangelism outreach ministry.

INTERCOMM INTRODUCES CEO

The Board of Directors of InterComm, Inc. is proud to announce the appointment of Douglas W Haines, as the new CEO of the organization. Doug took control of the helm on March 10 and is rapidly working to put his visionary ideas into action.

“I am excited about the opportunities the Lord is placing before me. It is so visible to me that God is the keeper of all keys to all doors. We must trust in Him and be faithful in our service.” noted Doug, following the final meeting with the Board before his appointment.

Doug has a strong Information Technology background in the Fortune 500 Corporate arena and in the private sector, coupled with extensive experience with marketing and management.

In a statement issued on April 28, Doug stated: “I am honored and humbled to accept this important position at a key time in the maturation of InterComm. I am impressed with InterComm’s overall strengths and the resources we have available. I look forward to enriching our global mission relationships and building new communication opportunities for spreading the message of Jesus Christ.”

Born of missionary parents in Seoul, Korea, in 1955, Doug spent a majority of his early years on the mission field. “Growing up in Korea provided me with a wealth of understanding of different cultures and gave me a love for mission outreach.”

Doug graduated from Taylor University in 1979 with a BS Degree in Business Systems and a BA Degree in Graphic Arts. From 1979 - 2003, he worked in the Information Technology/Consulting arena with notable firms (Allstate Insurance, Amoco Oil, AC Nielsen, Hewitt Associates, Caremark, KPMG Peat Marwick, JP Morgan).

FIRST HAUSA EDIT COMPLETE

In less than a month, Ken D Anderson has completed the Hausa voice edit, plus mixed a new music and sound effects track for the African youth production, SLIPPERY PATH. Produced in Kenya, this drama identifies the perils awaiting those who seek the pleasures of this world, yet, come face to face with the wages of sin.

The next Hausa recording on the editing table is PILGRIM’S PROGRESS.

EASTER REFLECTIONS

“Offering Himself to be wounded so that we can receive our healing, giving Himself up to be a scourge for our transgression is something words cannot express. That He died so that we can live sounds too good to be true, but that is just what it is, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. This is just to say congratulations for being one of the beneficiaries of such a wonderful privilege.”

Nehemiah & Tassie Ghata. Nehemiah was the translator and scheduled all the voices for the Hausa Language Recording Project in Nigeria.

EFFECTIVE FOR RURAL EVANGELISM

Rev Lawrence Lamina from Accra, Ghana writes:

“After each of our showings, the new converts are counseled and directed to

Bible believing churches nearby. Some of our viewers in the northern region were Muslims, but none of them made a public decision for the Lord. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will touch their hearts and bring them to a knowledge of Christ.

The film, THE ANSWER, encouraged Christians who had backslidden to return to the Lord. All of the presentations were effective for rural evangelism and help us bring people together to hear the Gospel. Many thanks for these ministry tools.”

22 Showings to 49,705 people with 2,123 accepting Christ!

HEARTBEAT

by Ken Anderson

Last month we learned that when the Communist Chinese occupied Tibet, they expected animosity from the Dalai Lama. To the contrary, they found him cordial and cooperative, whereupon they extended an invitation for him to come to Beijing on a formal state visit.

Overjoyed and unaware of spiritual subterfuge, the Chinese issued press releases which made headlines around the world. Through his seer, who spent many hours in deep trances, communing with spirits of darkness in the nether realms, the Dalai Lama received his complete itinerary, even though his schedule itself had not yet been released, it’s contents only known by a select group of the highest Chinese officials.

The seer also warned “His Holiness” , as I have often heard Tibetans call their leader, about the dangers he would face and how to avoid those dangers.

Actually, many of his closest followers felt the Chinese officials were laying plans where he would lose his life accidentally.

Reaching Beijing in pomp and glory, the Dalai Lama amazed his host by repeatedly outmaneuvering them. He was so courteous, so friendly and cooperative, and so subtly clever in the way he would direct events of each day. He paid frequent compliments, and he was a master of persuasion.

One day, concerning which the seer had said the schedule set by the Chinese hosts must be disobeyed, the Tibetan leader awakened complaining of a pulsating headache. So events of the day were cancelled to the dismay of the Chinese. By the time they came to the conclusion of the State visit, the Chinese were suspicious and courteous, but utterly hoodwinked.

The Dalai Lama returned from China to a triumphant welcome from his people. In the next month’s HEARTBEAT we will see the foiling of the Communist’s plans to dispose of the Dalai Lama and the craftiness whereby he fled to India to the complete consternation of his captors.

We share this story to remind readers that Satan remains a powerful adversary throughout the world, regularly opposing our Projects, our plans, and God’s AVangelists worldwide.
