CREATING WINGS
There's a
wonderful lliterature ministry, located just 20 miles north of
our city, and World Missionary Press is true to their name. They
are best known for a Scripture Booklet titled, Help from
Above, printed in hundreds of languages around the world.
Just as InterComm sends many of our good contacts, needing
language appropriate Scripture to them, WMP also refer
audiovisual seeking friends to us. Thus we met Evangelist Samuel
Adetoro from Nigeria in 1998.
In his
letter of introduction, his greeting included,
"We
appreciate your effort in expanding the Body of Christ, and we
thank God for putting the interest of His Gospel into your mind,
making it greater than any earthly thing. We hope that you will
also contribute your effort to help us, as God gives you the
grace."
Not long after becoming a Christian in
1979, Samuel established Feed the Lamb and Sheep Evangelistic
Ministry. Having closely studied God’s Word, he chose Proverbs
22:6 and John 21:15-17 as his key Scriptures. God convinced
Samuel that reaching children was the key to changing society in
his country. Could we help him with training materials that
would draw their interest?
We sent a Torch Kit and a large
selection of our children’s videos to encourage his work. Upon
receipt of the package, he wrote,
"Please when you read this letter, help me
praise my God with 3 big Hallelujahs so you can understand and
see how happy I am to receive these mighty gifts."
Samuel is a giver, who regularly shares
his videos with other ministries.
"Your videos have greatly expanded my
ministry, like creating wings so that it can fly to unexpected
places. InterComm has become a connecting rod for God’s glory.
Children love the Torch Kit
stories and even adults respond to the Gospel with this tool."
Although never
properly trained in methods of AVangelism, Samuel has been quick
to adapt his ministry to include these attractive tools, which
continue to draw children and men and women of all ages to
Christ. Samuel has reported showings to over 20,000
persons with more than 3,100 decisions for Christ registered.
NOT BORING
Evangelist Tafese Alemu Dengesso from
Ethiopia writes:
"I know that I promised to report to you 6
months ago, but I decided I could not come back only for the
Report but that I should report in God’s timing. I did not want
to miss opportunities to share the Gospel to plenty of people.
Please excuse me for that. I missed my promise 3 months ago. Now
it is God’s timing to report, and I can tell you the stories are
interesting and more attractive and not boring, because
everybody wants to watch them again and again."
He reported showings to 8,465
people with 454 accepting Christ.
HOUSE TO HOUSE
Rev Japhet K Lolchala
from Tanzania
writes:
"God bless InterComm Ministry. The videos are
so impressive and touching. The Torch Kit is improving my
visitation in house-to-house fellowships and also with Sunday
school classes. Spiritual and physical healing is taking place
among many people, who are gaining hope in Jesus Christ.
Showings to 2,570, with 653 accepting Christ.
I AM ENCOURAGED
Evangelist Zacchaeus Yisa from Guinea Bissau
writes:
"There have not been many visible decisions
made at our showings, but I’ve seen 3 ways in which God has been
working. One, backsliders are being restored to the faith. Two,
young Christians are being strengthened in their stand for
Christ. Three, many new people are being added to the church,
because even though they did not make a public confession, due
to shyness and fear, which is an African factor, they still
started to come to church and have continued coming. Amen. So I
am encouraged to continue, even if no one raises their hands to
accept Christ at the location, God has his diverse ways of
saving people. I have seen this to be true."
Showings to 205 people with 3 salvation
decisions.
CALL AGAIN
In another exciting Report from Evangelist
Zacchaeus Yisa from Guinea Bissau, he writes:
"The most encouraging part of this Report are
the showings at Sal Domingos. This is a completely different
region from where I live, and I went visiting some friends and
decided to take along the Torch Kit. We went out to a Tribe
called the Jola. They are known as a very fierce people, who
love to war, and have no value for human life. It is common for
them to kill many of their nearby neighbors. A few years ago a
group of missionaries went out to work among them. There are
very few Christians known to live among them at this time.
Imagine how excited we were to see them come out to watch our
film showings, and thereafter to see 10 of them decide to
accept Jesus Christ. As we were leaving, they pleaded with
me to call again, to come back, because I’d only spent one night
with them. I’m so encouraged about those souls because those
missionaries are now there to help them grow in their faith and
to teach them the ways of Christ. Oh how we must pray for these
new believers."
He had Report with 842 people with 10
accepting Christ.
HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson
5 years following the 6-Day War, we returned
to Israel for filming of our motion picture, SOUND OF THE
TRUMPET, the first half of which had been shot in the USA. It
was a small crew - myself, Heinz Fuzzle, our cinematographer,
our 2 Chicago pros - Harry Elders and Tony Mockus, and a couple
of aids, who were Palestinians. My heart ached with loneliness
for our friend, Solomon Mattar, when we entered the site of the
Garden Tomb for an all day filming session. Heinz was actually
setting up the camera inside the Garden Tomb, shooting towards
the entrance, when both of us found ourselves just staring at
one another for a long moment. "This is really something,
Ken." he spoke at last, looking around the interior of the
sepulcher. "Just think," Heinz said, as he passed his
hand across the base of the unfinished grave where it is
strongly presumed the Lord lay, "I was just sitting over
there where the angels sat when the women came in to bathe the
body of Jesus." Heinz has one of the very best eyes, as we
call it, for excellent camera shots. So I listened with interest
as he said, "You know where the really good position for a
camera is when we film these guys entering the sepulcher?" I
hadn’t thought, but at that moment I fully realized the best
camera set-up would be back in the hewn rock base of the tomb
where Jesus Lay. The caretaker politely gave us permission,
making possible a powerful and poignant moment on film, as the
actors on cue entered the tomb of Christ.
Within the garden property is a perfect spot for viewing
Golgotha. A Muslim cemetery has taken over the hill, and no
photography can occur at the calvary location. Fortunately,
however, we were able to secure an excellent establishing shot
from the site of the Garden Tomb, which served us beautifully.
Tony, moved by all that was happening, came up with an excellent
brainstorm. Standing with Golgotha behind him, he dropped to one
knee, picked up a couple of twigs, and rising again, held the
sticks up in the form of a cross. With Heinz’s careful camera
position, they placed the twigs directly on top of Golgotha, a
perfect Calvary. The result - one of the most memorable shots in
the history of Ken Anderson Films Productions. |
