Rev Samuel Ayamba Showing InterComm Videos to
Children - Note Small TV |
“I will
be really very grateful if help could be given to me on how
to develop audiovisuals for use in my ministry, especially
to the 40,000 people who speak my local dialects, Kusal and
Bisa. I want to reach those who are in village and cannot
understand English. Of course, I speak English and also Twi.
I am praying that God will make things possible. There are
other groups of people in my country that I would like to
reach with the Gospel too.”
Rev
Samuel David Ayamba
lives in Ashaiman-Tema, Ghana. This coastal region is
situated along the Gulf of Guinea, part of the Atlantic
Ocean. It is part of what has been named the Ivory Coast,
the Gold Coast, and the Slave Coast.
Our first
letter to Rev. Ayamba took 17 months to arrive. Yet, the
enthusiasm of this Haggai Institute trained
pastor/evangelist remained high. “I want to assure you
that I am very much interested in adapting audiovisuals for
ministry in my country. I’ve been waiting to hear from
you. I even wrote you when I returned home, but I did not
hear from you. Hence, my silence. I have instead been

praying to God to direct us on this level. So your letter
has come to make me happy and full of joy. I have seen this
kind of ministry as a great tool the Lord can use to reach
many with the Gospel of Christ.” The Scripture at the
bottom of his letter is Isaiah 43:1 - “They that wait
upon the Lord shall renew their strength.”.
Packages
and correspondence continued to travel slowly, but we
rejoiced to receive his letter of October 17, 2001,
informing us his Torch Kit and videos had arrived safely.
“I thank you so much for everything and promise to put
them to good use.” With an emphasis on children,
ministry ensued. Christmas time brought a special outreach
to street children with a plan to feed them physically and
with audiovisuals spiritually. On his first Report he
shared, “I thank God for such a ministry. The children
love to see the drama Filmstrip stories and Videos. They
ask so many questions and are happy to learn about Jesus.
Some of them felt sad of their sins and prayed that God
would forgive them. I am delighted to minister to children
this way. God is increasing the numbers of our ministry,
and we now need a building to better organize God’s work
here.”
Reports
to date indicate ministry to over 3,300 children with 359
being counseled for salvation. Rev. Samuel Ayamba asks
our prayers for this ministry. Do please remember him.
KANNADA
RECORDING

Grace & Solomon Benjamin, Project Leaders |
June 6 is
the first day of recording for the Kannada Language
Recording Project in Bangalore, India. Please remember to
pray daily for Project Coordinator, Solomon Benjamin, and
also for Lane and Jill Anderson, as they work with the
Committee to complete 5 drama videos into the Kannada
Language and, time permitting, as many as 5 additional
videos recorded into the Malayalam Language of
southern India. These recording sessions require great
concentration and attention to detail. Please pray that we
will be able to work smoothly with our Bangalore Committee
to help bring out the very best in language understanding
and drama, giving each finished film the integrity desired
to encourage men, women, and children to accept Jesus Christ
as the message is shared in the months and years ahead.
I AM MORE
BLESSED

Terang from India
writes:
“42
people have come to Christ through Torch Kit showings, and I
always find new blessings every time I watch these
Filmstrips. I even imagine that I am more blessed than
anyone seeing them. It is a great tool to get the attention
of your target audience to present the Gospel message.
Thank you very much. God bless.”
RELEVANT
TOOL
Evangelist Phala Naw Din from Myanmar
writes:
“My
ministry is mainly among unreached ethnic groups and also
includes remote areas of my country that are heavily
populated by drug traffickers. Even so, I have a very
successful ministry in that area. I have planted 3 churches
there. Some locations where I travel are under the control
of guerilla soldiers. I would like to mention to you that
your video, TASHI FROM TIBET, in our Burmese Language is a
very effective tool among Buddhists, because it is very
relevant to our context and conveys the message directly.
Your films in the Burmese Language are very useful in soul
winning.”

“By the
grace of God and with the help of the Holy Spirit we have
just successfully conducted Good News Festivals in 5
villages. It has been a struggle from the very beginning,
as each of these villages are basically idol worshipers. 5
years ago, we had tried to preach in this area, but some of
our people were stoned. We began praying several months ago
for this Project and even began working with the children
and pursuing medical camps, and then introduced the Torch
Kit for those who were willing to come and watch. I
normally meet with the village leaders first, explain our
program, gain permission, and move ahead.
Even
though we were not officially given permission, God clearly
challenged me as to why I was hesitating to proceed with
this program. So we set a date and moved ahead. Initially
very few people were showing any interest, but then we began
to meet serious opposition. Even so, with sincere prayer
God kept the doors open and the programs began to go
forward. We continued with the Torch showings and the
people began coming after 8:00 pm with over 48 men, but a
large number of youth came carrying big sticks, obviously
having had much alcohol to drink. We gave an invitation,
and one of the elder’s wives and a village president and 2
other people accepted Christ. Some of the young men got
very angry and began to beat my driver, but other leaders
came and settled everything down.
By the
grace of God 9 families openly accepted the Lord in these 5
villages. So please pray for these families that they will
have strength to come together and that a church might be
formed. God is doing great things, even in small numbers.
His
Report indicated 40 showings to 1,063 people with 166
accepting Christ. These are precious souls in very
difficult villages.

You have had experiences come as thrilling as mine
of how the Lord brings special encouragement at
needful times. I once received a letter in the mail
from a man I had never heard from before. He wrote,
“In recent days I have seen several of your
films, and I felt God leading me to pray for you.
Not that anything was wrong, but instead that you
would have strength and wisdom. Seeing how God has
and is using your life in ministry was a strength to
me.”
A
beautiful little illustration of what it means to reach out
and touch. A friend of mine taught me something of this as
well. He said he makes a point of paying at least 2 sincere
compliments every day. I thank God for the man who sensed
God’s unction to drop me that note of encouragement. Is
there someone you can touch with encouragement and blessing
today?
