The beautiful

in Sri Lanka |
I Kings
10:10-12. The little island country of Ophir actually played a
significant role in God’s plan for King Solomon. Not only did Ophir
(pronounced O-Fire) supply significant gold and precious stones, but
Almug Trees from which Solomon fashioned pillars for the House of
the Lord, as well as his own Palace.
History uncovers
interesting facts. Take the name Ophir, as it was known by
Solomon. In later years the island became known as Taprobane. Then
Serendib - Ceylon, and currently Sri Lanka.
Just as God had a
plan for Ophir in Solomon’s time, we believe, likewise God has a
plan for Sri Lanka today. Part of that plan was a Language
Recording Project, headed

up by Lane and
Jill Anderson in the months of March and April of 2004. To insure
the success of this Project, God fashioned a Pillar named
Priyantha, who became our Project Coordinator, a tremendously
capable man, who got things done and never relented. God also
harvested an actor named Kingsley Loos, who in his mid 30's
accepted Jesus Christ. Kingsley, aprofessional in the art of lip
sync dubbing, became our Production Pillar, sitting with us every
recording day - all day long, directing the language
and drama
interpretations for the 7 Sinhala Language Films we recorded. He
also worked closely with our Tamil Language Team to help them
succeed in recording 3 films into their Language.

Through the
diligence and preparedness of these Pillars, 10 films were completed
when only 7 were originally scheduled.
75% of Sri
Lankans are Sinhala speakers and observe the Buddhist religion. 17%
are Tamil/Hindus. Recently God has placed a burden on the hearts of
many Christians to again present Christ to the people’s of this
nation. This became a driving factor to the great interest shown
for this year’s Project. Our Sri Lankanteam is excited to have new
evangelism tools available for launching outreach programs across
their entire country.
As we think back
over the centuries and how God used this little island for His
purposes in the time of Solomon, is there any wonder that God would
again one day open the doors of ministry for these wonderful and
needy people. 10 new films, PILLARS, will soon be returned
to Sri Lanka for ministry. Please pray with us for God’s blessing
on this vision for spreading the Gospel.
COME, SEE, HEAR
Rev Champion
Chasara of Harare, Zimbabwe
writes:
“During my Torch
Kit showings many people become so very quiet and listen carefully,
viewing very attentively. Recently one lady said, ‘My life is not
worth living any more. Therefore I give it to Jesus.’ I praise God
for having such a tool to reach out and share Jesus with individuals
like this woman. Christian drama Filmstrips draw many people to
come and see and hear.”
Showings to 1,130
people with 297 accepting Christ.
STONED
Rev Johnson
Oyekola Olayinka of Minna, Nigeria
writes:
“I minister in
the northern part of my country where Islam is the predominant
religion. At 2 places recently the Muslims threw stones at us,
thinking that they could keep us from holding our Torch Kit showings
outside in the open spaces. We were able to move the showings into
a sheltered area, and many people came and were moved by the message
of these stories, which are very clear.”
Showings to 2,668
people with 74 accepting Christ.
SPEAK THE
LANGUAGE

Mr Joseph Ngoria
Ndiwa of Kitale, Kenya
writes:
“Our video
showings are very popular and are big crowd pullers. Encouraging
results are being achieved. The people are move attentive when
Kiswahili videos are shown, because the majority actually understand
and speak the Language.”
Showings to 2,581
people with 252 accepting Christ.
NO ADDED BURDEN
Pastor Samuel H
Dela Torre of Manila, Philippines
writes:
“In parts of our
evangelistic ministry we are using the Torch Kit to attract children
and their parents. It is very convenient to use out in the
Provinces, and we can simply carry the equipment without adding any
additional burden to the one who will carry it.
For places
where they do not have electricity, this light-weight Torch Kit is
powerful and useful. We praise God forwhat He is doing with this
small equipment. I have also loaned my Torch Kit to another
Pastor, who is using it in remote areas to assist his church
planting effort, which is bearing fruit.”
Showings to
1,055 people with 226 accepting Christ.
HEARTBEAT
By Ken Anderson
Jack Hamilton,
one of InterComm’s closest friends, went to Heaven last month.
It’s possible you never heard Jack’s name before. Among his
plethora of pithy sayings was this one, “It’s no sweat, who gets
the credit for things we do here on earth. Just so we’re sure who
gets the glory.”
Born into a
Christian home, Jack met his one and only girlfriend, Marijean, at
their mutual church. They married just before his entry in the
army air corps, 6 months prior to Pearl Harbor. Jack was
stationed outside Seattle. After Marijean joined him, they
volunteered their services to the local Youth For Christ Director,
who emceed a weekly rally, reaching out to hundreds of servicemen
thronging Seattle streets. Jack masterminded a “Call Home Free”
Feature, helping jam pack a downtown auditorium every Saturday
night with multitudes of these GI’s responding to the Gospel.
At war’s end,
the Hamiltons returned to hometown Kansas City and discovered High
School kids just waiting for someone to lead them into commitment
and outreach. Local YFC Director, Al Metzger, invited Jack to
join the staff. Jack’s assignment - High School Bible Clubs.
Principals of numerous KC Area Schools, noting the marked
difference between glue-sniffing students and their Bible-toting
counterparts, offered enthusiastic backing.
But wait!
Out of the
Separation of Church and State Lobby, numerous members of
which were also active in local PTA Organizations, came a solid
irrefutable veto. YFC Clubs were permanently forbidden on public
school campuses. Under Jack and Marijean’s shepherding, prayer
groups blanketed the area. Lovingly but firmly Jack sometimes
scolded anyone who advocated fighting the opposition. Like a
well-armed soldier, he would flip open his Bible and read
authoritatively portions such as Psalm 60:11,12, “Give us aid
against the enemy for the help of man is worthless. With God we
will gain the victory, and He will trample down our enemies.” Or
II Corinthians 2:14, “But thanks be to God who always leads us in
triumphal procession in Christ, and through us spreads everywhere
the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.”
When it looked
hopeless, Jack never lost his cool. Together he and Marijean came
up with a solution whereby YFC Clubs convened in spacious buses,
parked curbside of each prep school in the area. A highlight of
bus activities saw the initiation of the first Bible Quizzing
Competitions. The Kansas City Bus Phenomenon became a high level
topic of conversation nationwide. Interest throughout North
America rose to such heights that KC/YFC brought a demonstration
bus to the YFC National Convention. Overwhelming enthusiasm put
Bible Quizzing at the center of YFC Programming from that point
forward.
The Hamiltons
had become intrigued with the use of Christian Films in evangelism
around the world. During their careers, however, money was never
a driving factor in the Hamilton’s life, which affected one
important aspect of their Christian commitment - tithes and
offerings. Undaunted in the face of retirement limitations, they
did the next best thing. They introduced InterComm to a private
foundation in 1994. Over these last 10 years over $75,000 has
been gifted to InterComm from this one source alone. Monies
provided from the Foundation helped InterComm produce 3 drama
Filmstrips in Colombia, record 5 videos into the Burmese Language
of Myanmar, record 2 videos into the Tibetan Language, purchase a
state of the art Video Editing System, and purchase 150 Torch Kits
which have been placed in the hands of 150 separate Evangelists
all over the world, including a special placement of 30 units into
the remote Andes Mountains of Bolivia.
If Jack could
speak to you personally today, he would urge you to never
under-estimate the importance of introducing a ministry like
InterComm to your friends, family, or church. You never know how
God may bless that simple effort in a similar way, as the
Hamiltons life has touched the world, just through one
introduction. Do please pray about to whom God would lead you to
introduce this ministry we call InterComm.
