MEDIA MINISTRY MARRIAGE

Joy & Benigno Reyes

Children:Gerald, Gerome & Glendale

"Dear Brother and Sister in the Lord (May ‘96 Letter), Let me introduce myself. I’m Pastor Mrs Joy R Reyes. Six years ago a film program was scheduled for my church through which I met a wonderful full time Christian projectionist. One year later, he became my husband. So we are both in full time ministry and are now blessed with twin boys and a daughter. Also God has now provided us with 2 Projectors, but we have a great need for quality Christian films. We are self-supported, but we need your help to secure soul-winning films to share Christ here in our country, the Philippines."

After we replied in the positive, she wrote, "My husband and I are so excited with your response. I could not hold back the tears. We have been praying for help for 3 years now, and finally God has sent us your address and now His answer."

Just in time for Christmas and in answer to her prayers, 3 films were delivered to the Reyes, allowing their AVangelism ministry with InterComm to begin. Since these early days, we have also further equipped them with a total of 11-16mm Film Prints, 20 video tapes, a Torch Kit, and materials for the Overhead Projector. Early in 1997, a fire broke out in the home next door to the Reyes. 50 homes, including the Reyes, were destroyed. Yet, only one film was lost. Everything else they owned was consumed. Joy shared that this tragedy has encouraged them to do even more for the Lord, because they must not worry about material possessions.

Film showing in the Phillipines

Film Reports began to arrive on a regular basis. Over the last 6 years, Benigno and Joy Reyes have held 165 Media Showings to 45,763 people with 6,040 souls accepting Christ. Churches have grown, youth groups strengthened through new converts, plus Pastor Joy was appointed District Evangelism Director, allowing her even more time to share Christ.

God has greatly blessed InterComm by allowing us to work with high quality people, such as the Reyes. Let’s be sure to thank Him and pray for their ministry.

THE CHRISTIAN COWBOY RIDES AGAIN!

InterComm is excited about re-saddling one of Ken Anderson Films original Children’s Video Series, The Christian Cowboy. The Series features professional animation with highly entertaining story-lines. A fun new look, along with InterComm’s timeless "Old Western" vision, brings the 4 videos into homes and Christian schools all across North America.

Within a few weeks, flyers will be going out to 55,000 Christian Education Directors. If the response is as expected, your neighbor kids will be picking up their Cowboy Hats and saving Pioneer Junction from the evil Dr. Sinbad or rescuing the Pioneer Express Train from devious villains. The flyers will offer churches a special price on all the videos and also direct them to the new Christian Cowboy web site.

www.thechristiancowboy.com.

Our exciting new site features lively colors and animations, as well as cool Bible games, wallpaper downloads, and the ALL NEW Christian Cowboy Fan Club. "Kids love the entertaining site and will be asking their parents for all the videos," says CEO Doug Haines. "The Fan Club and the Christian Cowboy merchandise offer kids more than just a visual experience. We’re doing a lot of extra things to make the Christian Cowboy more than a video - that’s why we know the Series will be a success."

MORALE BOOSTER

Rev Thomas Abugah of Kumasi, Ghana writes:

"The Torch Kit is an effective tool for my ministry. It is simple to use and it can be used to reach out to adults and children. It has been a big blessing and a great morale booster for my ministry. Shows at home have made a big impact on my own children. Very soon I’ll be inviting their friends to our home for shows so I can witness to them with God’s Word."

His Report has showings to 108 people with 67 accepting Christ.

CHURCH WAS REVIVED

Evangelist Richard Maina King’au of Thika, Kenya writes:

"I thank you for the concern you are having for the ministry of Jesus. I tried the Torch Kit yesterday for the first time, but before I showed it, I announced to the public that I was having a free film show in our local church hall. To my surprise, it had a great impact on the people who came to view it. We received 2 new members and the church itself was revived after the showing of ASHA, THE BLIND GIRL, WHO COULD SEE. I believe, as we continue to use the Torch Kit, it is going to bring a very big change in this area."

IMPORTANCE OF THE WORD OF GOD

Evangelist Stephen Ayombisa of Tarkwa, Ghana writes:

"The Torch Kit has greatly touched many souls, even those previously saved. So many of the children and

adults have been enlightened as to the importance of the Word of God. For me, personally, I was most challenged by THE BOY WITH THE LAMP and how the boy saw the importance of the Word of God, which reminded me of Joshua. We should study it day and night."

9 showings to 1,281 people, 758 accepting Christ.

ENJOYED LIKE ANYTHING

Pastor Venkateswara Rao of Machilipatnam, India writes:

"Friends, this media has been very good and useful for our work. We have been using it in several villages, where the people have been enjoying it like anything. We’ve been organizing Gospel meetings in various places and so many people have come to see these stories. I’m very grateful to you and InterComm."

21 showings, 1,269 people, 34 accepting Christ.

HEARTBEAT

by Ken Anderson

What ever happened to Kobal? Kalsang, who we met last month, and his brother, Kobal, were as different as noon and midnight. Kalsang was short and thin. Kobal tall and extremely muscular.

Kalsang sent to India for his wife and children, and they settled in a Tibetan community in New Jersey. He wrote to us faithfully for several years. Then, for some reason, we lost contact. I still pray for him, trusting that he has told many refugee Tibetans here in America: "From the well of my heart, I believe in Jesus!"

I occasionally met Kobal during my continuing trips to India and witnessed to the big Tibetan. He would listen, politely, but without comment. Once he excitedly told me about a hotel he and two friends had built in Nepal. "It a beautiful one, Mr. Ken," he told me. "Six floors. You come see. I put you on top side. You can see mountains like no place else. You stay free! One month...two."

Several years passed and I didn’t see him. I presumed him busy with the hotel. Then one day I changed planes in Calcutta. I was very tired and sat off to one side, snoozing. Then, quickly, I awakened and became aware of somebody standing in front of me. A voice uttered, "Oho, Ken Anderson?"

I looked up.....into the big smiling face of an elated Kobal! I invited him to the snack bar and we had a coke together. "You come with me to Nepal," he said. "Bring M’msahb I put you in my hotel." Then he became more serious. "I am now Freedom Fighter on border, fighting Chinese. I kill many." His face took on the delight of a boy, and he laughed happily as he said, "Chinese easy to shoot. They big and fat."

I felt just a little bit tempted, thinking how exhilarating it could be to go up on the border with this man about whom I cared so much. I poured out my heart to him, telling him he might get killed someday. Was he ready to meet God? "I too young to die," he replied. "I have too much fun!" He gulped down his coke. My flight was called.

Stay!" he urged, his eyes brimming with tears. I almost did, but I had to be in Singapore the next morning for my Haggai Institute classes. If I remained, went with him to his hotel, I knew he would permit me to show InterComm Torch Filmstrips to his hotel guests. Perhaps that was a way I could reach him!  My plane was announced and

I bid my friend a painful final farewell. Tears flooded my eyes. "Pray to God, Kobal," I whispered, "the way I told you," I thought I saw him nod. I’m not sure.

One time, on a subsequent trip to India, I was told what happened. Up on the border, Nepalese mistook Kobal for a Chinese and killed him!
