REACH THE PEOPLE

Could it really be nearly 15 years ago we first received an inquiry from Evangelist Eugene Narh? He had been trained in Film Evangelism as a full-time employee of Challenge Cinema, organized by the Ghana branch of SIM. Now God had separated him for more hands-on outreach through his new organization - Reach the People Ministries. But he needed Films! And InterComm would not be established yet for 2 more years. Would used Film Prints be okay? It took nearly 2 years to get the first 10 films into his hands through the Mercy Ships of YWAM (Youth with a Mission). How excited was his letter of December, 1990, filled with early plans and programs.

"I have been invited to show films for a week here in our capital," he wrote from Accra. "I believe God Himself will cause your films to have a great impact on many people."

Over the years dozens of churches have been started through the fruit of his AVangelism. Eugene has been faithful to help equip these churches, as well with goods donated from the USA. He has also encouraged other Evangelists by loaning them Film Kits for special outreach opportunities. Although some Reports were not able to be included, we do know Eugene has conducted at least 208 Films Showings to 159,406 people with 35,187 responding for salvation.

God really can use one man effectively!

CAMBODIA - TORCH REPORT

Dan and Rose Blosser came through the Jakarta, Indonesia Missions’ Guest House just as Lane and Jill Anderson had completed the recording of the Bahasa Indonesia videos. They invited us to accompany them up to the city of Bandung in the mountains where they were going to vacation, but to also look in at some Trans World Radio Ministry Projects. The train trip up into the mountains was a beautiful

visual experience and gave us plenty of time to share ministry opportunities. Recently assigned to the country of Cambodia, Dan and Rose were excited about the emerging church and ministry outreach opportunities. The Torch Kit sounded exactly like the kind of tool, which would have great benefit in their ministry, and as they were soon coming back to the USA on Home Leave, they made arrangements to stop by the InterComm office. They left with 2 Torch Kits and some other materials to assist them in evangelism outreach ministry through audiovisuals upon return.

As broadcast missionaries, their plates were full. Yet, over the next months initial placements of the Torch Kits occurred, and God began to bless it in a wonderful way. A young pastor received the first Torch Kit and began translating the stories into the Khmer Language. He found it to be very effective, and was hoping more stories might be available than were originally provided for him.

Rose has found the other Kit so very helpful, particularly in circumstances when she’s traveling around the country and stays overnight. People are always fascinated by the stories and invite others in for an evening of witness. Some of the Bible school students, who have been taught how to use the Torch Kit, were competing over who would be able to use it in their next outreach ministry. For that reason, Dan and Rose asked if they could have a couple more Torch Kits for Cambodia. So while they were again on a short trip back to the USA (Dan’s home is Goshen, Indiana.) in June, we were able to put those into their hands.

Please pray with us regarding God’s anointing on these 4 Kits, making in-roads into this country held captive by Communism for so many years.

MANY PEOPLE COLLECTED

Pastor Emmanuel L Msambya of Kigoma, Tanzania writes:

"We are so much thankful for the videos you have sent, since they are helpful for our ministry. Always the Media Showings collect many people. We preach to them, and then show them the videos. They hear the Word of God, which is a seed planted in their hearts. They see the showings and often the pagans cry out to the Lord while watching movies like ZAWADI or PILGRIM’S PROGRESS. May the Lord expand this ministry for His glory. We are so thankful for you and for InterComm Team for sending us these videos."

HEARTBEAT

The Walamo Story

The Sudan Interior Mission now known as SIM set a goal many years ago to reach upper African tribes for Christ. High on their agenda was the Walamo tribe living on the Sudan/Ethiopia border, an area wasted by drought and tormenting sandstorms.

One day a stranger appeared. He was dressed in similar clothing to the Europeans, yet seemed different. He was different! Europeans from the North had been greedy and unkind, but this man said he came to help them.

He carried magic stones, or at least they looked like stones. When they had aching heads, this man would give them 2 stones to swallow and like magic the headache would leave. He also had good ideas about planting seed on dry land. Others came to work with him and soon they showed the Walamo tribesmen how to dig wells. Now they could not only water the seeds but have clean water for drinking.

One day each week they would gather together for a God talk. They learned many wonderful things about this God. Best of all, they learned how they could have new hearts by reaching out for the love of this God.

About this time news brought fear concerning a powerful warrior named Mussolini. He was known as a big man with a weak backbone. He did not dare to fight people his own size, so he sent soldiers with cruel guns into Africa wherever he could quickly overpower the people. There was so little time, but the missionaries did ordain pastors amongst the more spiritual men reminding them "You must trust God. He will help you, if you truly trust Him." Then as the fascists moved in, the missionaries had no choice but to leave. SIM received a few reports. They learned that Mussolinis soldiers had burned down all of the churches and sent the pastors as prisoners of war to Italy.

At last, after Mussolini had been defeated, missionaries were able to return to the Walamo tribe. To their joy and amazement they learned that the Christians had not obeyed the godless fascists. The pastors before being sent

away had carefully selected other leaders. Perhaps about ten percent of the people had become young believers. Now, when they returned, they found several villages where nearly all the citizens were believers in the Lord Jesus!

The Walamo tribe illustrates the eagerness with which so many today in Ethiopia and Sudan embrace the gospel when it is clearly presented. God has blessed InterComm with many wonderful contacts working in these challenging locations sharing the ministry of AVangelism and inviting the lost to accept Christ.
