NIGERIAN MARKET

“Evangelist Okechukwu Ezeigbo”

Evangelist Okechukwu Ezeigbo of Abia State, Nigeria contacted InterComm when he found our website on the internet. His email of January 2004 was a typical appeal for helps of various types, typical in that it was a general letter sent when little is known about a ministry. Through further correspondence, however, we were to learn his first contact with InterComm was even more unusual.

As a regular reader of the TORCH, you understand not all the materials we ship overseas actually arrive in the hands of the intended ministry. There seems to be large holes at international terminals where packages just disappear. Evangelist Ezeigbo, in fact, sent us a Media Report before we ever sent him any of our films or videos. He was meaning to illustrate the dedication of his team to evangelism and sent the Report, which included showings of our films, PILGRIM’S PROGRESS, CHRISTIANA, and JOURNEY TO THE SKY. In response to our inquiry he wrote, “We purchased your 16mm films from the Nigerian marketplace, but we only have 1 reel of PILGRIM’S PROGRESS.” We’ve often wondered whether he has Reel 1 or Reel 2, but regardless God has certainly blessed that Reel with souls won for Jesus Christ. Yes, the black market thrives around the world, and someone’s loss can yet be Heaven’s gain when stolen films end up in the hands of an honest Evangelist like our Brother Ezeigbo.

Following our letter outlining items available from InterComm, he wrote, “The Lord God has finally answered our prayers! Please, sir, we have interest in the Torch Kit. Also, from time to time we are called to minister to the Muslim community so your Hausa Language videos will help us.” These and other items were in his hands by January 2005. “We do not have a Video Projector just now. Ours was destroyed because of excess current (power surging). I am making arrangements, however, to use a 20" TV so we can get back to God’s business of AVangelism. Next month we hope to begin using the Hausa films. Until then, we are having great results with the Torch Kit stories. We are targeting about 100 schools for this ministry. Further the government would like us to move from school to school showing the AIDS Film you sent us. We are praying the government will help us with the cost.”

In a report from 2006, he shared, “It is so wonderful to see the impact of Christian films in the lives of people here. These films are amazing instruments, touching the hearts of so many in my country. Sometimes when I am walking about, people see me and call out the name of a film I have shown them. This, I think, clearly indicates the results of these films in their lives. Words are not enough to thank God for your kind support and helps to our ministry.”

"Ezeigbo Using Torch Kit in School Ministry"

The success of InterComm comes only because of faithful servants like Evangelist Ezeigbo, who are called by God to take the Good News of Jesus Christ throughout their land. You and I may never meet these saints until eternity. But why not plan to spend time with Evangelist Ezeigbo when you are both with the Lord. Meanwhile, your investments in prayer and your gifts to this work are bringing remarkable results all over the world. Sometimes thanks simply to the Nigerian Marketplace.

Reports received to date. 295 showings to 92,102 people with 11,950 receiving Christ.

HAPPIEST GIRL AT SCHOOL

Rev Berrings Mlambya of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania writes:

“I really appreciate the video films you have provided. God’s blessings are being manifested abundantly. One day in secondary school one Muslim girl was deeply touched by the ZAWADI story. It appears that she, too, was in a similar situation as the girl in the film. She cried, ‘Who can deliver me from the pain” She was often molested by many men from her early teenage years. She thought that she had HIV, but after receiving Christ, she became the happiest girl at the school. Now she is safe. Pray for her to remain solid in her faith. This ministry is attracting many youth to the Gospel. Thank you.”

A Report with 66 showings, 2,401 people attending, with 62 responding to the Gospel message.

WE STARTED A SUNDAY SCHOOL

Dr Chandrakant Mhaske from Maharashtra State, India writes:

“InterComm is doing very excellent work through our ministry, helping us a lot because of your effective motion pictures. Many people are interested in seeing your movies, as they cannot afford to pay the high cost of cinema these days. We are happy to inform you that we have started a new Sunday School youth group and Bible study group in a couple different areas with the help of this media. Praise be to the Lord! Please pray for us, and thank you so much for all of your helps.”

Submitted a Report with 15 showings to 471 people with 191 responding for salvation.

MARVELOUS TOOL

Pastor Rabenja Andrianavalona from Antananarivo, Madagascar writes:

“We thank God that He has opened some more doors, as He called me to teach in a university recently. I will be using these marvelous tools you have provided for me, which I use with much joy. We cannot forget your great help by giving the Torch Kit to us. It is a very useful ministry tool, and we thank God for all He has done with its help. May the Lord reward you richly.”

Reported 8 showings to 1,535 people with 27 decisions for salvation.

LOW-TECH

Most western churches have moved their Overhead Projectors to the broom closet, making room for bright new LCD Projectors to use in their music and message ministries. Here, however, is an example of how an Overhead Projector is being used for evangelism outreach ministry. InterComm provides training tools on the usage of the Overhead Projector, both with a booklet and with a video. Major Zothansanga from Myanmar shared the following:

“Thanks to your encouragement, here’s what we performed last month, using your training tools and making effective use of our Overhead Projector. First I wrote a short story about a couple who came into ministry in our rural area. From their childhood they had met, fell in love, heard God’s calling, and ultimately dedicated themselves to full-time ministry. This was a 15-minute presentation. Although expensive, I was able to create some transparencies. I chose 10 young people, who could give a good drama voice. Each received a manuscript, and we prepared and rehearsed. I taught them how to use their voice with correct drama application. At the start of the presentation, I played beautiful, but quiet music. Each of the participants sat close around the microphone so that everyone could hear them clearly, and I showed the pictures one by one and led the students through the presentation. God blessed, and we now have effectively produced our first low-tech production for our Overhead Projector.”

VIETNAM PROJECT UPDATE

The Committee in Dalat reports that 2,000 copies of Vietnamese PILGRIM’S PROGRESS will be delivered to them soon from a duplicator in-country. They are going to showcase this film at a Christian Conference being held in Dalat in early September. Please pray for God’s blessing of this initiative and a wide distribution going out from the Dalat conference all over Vietnam!.

A master disk of HUDSON TAYLOR has just reached Vietnam, and plans will soon be underway to make duplicate copies.

The children’s film, SPACE SHUTTLE JOURNEY, is at our lab, producing a master for duplication, and the teenage film, STEP OVER THE EDGE, is on its way to Vietnam for approval. That leaves our bonus film, ELEPHANT BOY, which will begin editing soon.

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers for this Project. The Committee has a desire to see the videos reach the north of the country, where witness is much more difficult. Ask God to provide a means to do this to encourage Christians in that region, as well as spread the Gospel.

HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson

(For a period of time, InterComm will be sharing Heartbeats from the Ken Anderson Films era.)

“Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.”  I’ve thought about that verse. Quoted it somewhat glibly many times. When we go through tough days personally or in a ministry, we receive some practical. . .field experiences. . .on the meaning and viable function of such verses. This is a time when people like us should be stifled by discouragement. Instead, our hearts should be full of optimism. More eager to see what the Lord will do for us in the future than ever before. Whenever we face transitional times, we need to think less about business as usual and much more about ministry.
