RESULTS

"Sunil & Neelu Lall"

Do Large Numbers Equal Success?

“The greatest calling for every Christian is to lead people to Jesus Christ. “ These very words jumped off the page of the first letter received from Mr Sunil Lall, secretary for a ministry called New Life Development Society, operating north of New Delhi, India. InterComm is over half way into its 10th year of ministry relationship with Sunil, his family, and his organization. Back at the beginning, he was on a fishing expedition, you might say. Someone gave him our address, and he sent us his year-end Report letter.

Oh yes, we would have responded, anyway, but deep inside this letter was a connection to our past. A connection, which went back to the very first years of Ken Anderson Films. This connection was tied to Dr. Geoffrey Lehman, British citizen, who built his own missions hospital in northern India to work among some of the world’s most difficult to reach peoples. Even today, northern India remains the most resistant part of the country to the Gospel. Yet, back in the early 60's Dr. Lehman realized Christian films were needed to draw men and women to listen to the calls of Christ. From his personal resources, our film, JOURNEY TO THE SKY, the story of India’s most well known Christian martyr, Sadhu Sundar Singh, was produced, which today still ministers all over the world and in many new languages, lip sync dubbed by InterComm and now available in video disk format.

The connection - the Herbertpur Trust - founded by the Lehman family to encourage National Evangelism programs and which had assisted Sunil’s group with motorcycles, a truck, and various other necessary equipment. You see, years after Dr. Lehman went to be with the Lord, his carefully organized resources were still underwriting the work of the Gospel, not only in northern India, but through media all over the world. What a wonderful example of “Laying up treasures in Heaven where moth and rust will not corrupt.”

“The film ministry is very effective here where so many of our people are illiterate. People enjoy watching films, but in the villages there is no electricity connection so far.” We offered Hindi Language videos for city ministry, and the Torch Kit for village evangelism. They arrived in later November, 1998. “We will use these tools first among the poor villages in Kumara and its neighboring areas. We trust that many will come to know the Lord through this effort.”

Sunil’s first Report was nearly 2 years late. “My wife Neelu and I felt led of the Lord to move from our rented house into a place called Harit Villar here in Delhi. This is an unauthorized colony without any basic amenities like water, sewer, or electricity. Every morning we have to carry in water, walk 3 kilometers to ride a bus, you get the idea. But God called us to live and witness among these most poor people. It is our privilege to know His will and do it. We have started a small prayer group, and God is already blessing. We have also been using the Torch Kit in many areas where we minister. Everyone likes it very much."

                                                                "Ministry Among the Children"

Facing an ever-growing antagonism to the Gospel, it isn’t always possible or wise to offer an invitation following media showings. Great care must be taken so as not to offend the Hindu leadership and thus lose future ministry opportunities. One by one, however, people come to Christ, led by the Holy Spirit through the message of Christian media drama. “Media showings have proven to be effective tools in the Gospel work here in north India. We use them in all possible places, and people are greatly encouraged.”

Every month we provide InterComm’s Prayer Warriors a Calendar, highlighting people like Sunil and Neelu, who need our prayer support. We write letters to these dear ones to encourage them and assure them that God’s people are lifting them before the Lord in prayer. These prayers and letters are powerful tools of encouragement to God’s saints around the world, who, over and over again, thank us for your continuous prayers. Do you receive our Prayer Calendars? We really need you on our Prayer Team!

                                                                    "New Life Academy Staff"

Amidst all this AVANGELISM, New Life Development Society had also established a Christian school for India’s poorest children, who never would be educated without the vision of these saints. Today they help over 400 children per year, ultimately teaching them skills, which allow them to find good jobs in many area businesses. Of course, at the school they also see plenty of Christian films and filmstrips.

Can you imagine traveling to any area and meeting people “WHO HAVE NEVER” heard the name of Jesus Christ? This is yet common to the Lalls, as they minister in northern India, presenting Christ to those who have no Christian frame of reference. It takes time and patience, and the fruit comes slowly, but it comes. Since Sunil began sending Reports nearly 10 years ago, he has conducted at least 414 showings to 9,384 people with 63 known converts. How we praise God for these exciting RESULTS in the face of such direct spiritual opposition in northern India.

CHRISTIAN CLASSICS ON DVD

InterComm is the distribution authority for all of the Christian Classics, produced by Ken Anderson Films. Wouldn’t it be timely for your home to own such films as PILGRIM’S PROGRESS or its companion film, CHRISTIANA, both full drama stories, featuring John Bunyan’s famous works of literature. Or how about HUDSON TAYLOR, the great missionary story, emanating from the interior of China. For the musical inclined, FANNY CROSBY will bring inspiration and drama, as you experience with her, her walk towards a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Finally, what about our film, JOURNEY TO THE SKY, the true story of India’s most famous Christian Martyr, Sadhu Sundar Singh. This film and PILGRIM’S PROGRESS are the 2 most highly requested films for lip sync dubbing around the world.

AIDS FILM

Evangelist Okechukwu Ezeigbo of Nigeria writes:

“We are seriously involved with the government in planning to use the AIDS Film you sent us to cover all of the primary and secondary schools in our State. We believe that God is helping us to realize our dreams of bringing the saving message of Christ to these youngsters through this film. We are also very pleased to be using the Torch Kit, and we are seeing many lives saved as they, too, are being shown in the schools. We are seeing wonderful results come because of them. Praise be to God!”

Report of 14 Torch Kit and video showings to 1720 students with 779 decisions for Jesus Christ.

MARKET MINISTRY IN MASAI COUNTRY

Dr Daniel Wamalwa of Kenya
writes:

“All of the showings reported this time took place in markets in Masai land. We did preaching and film showings, and hundreds of people’s lives were changed. Many of the people were in tears. It is a miracle in itself to see a Masai crying. We praise the name of the most high God for these results.”

69 showings to 4790 with 492 decisions for Jesus Christ.

ALL WE CAN

Rev Richard Katarahweire of Uganda writes:

“I am again happy and grateful to God for all the AVangelism ministry is doing in our country. We see many people coming to the Lord. I’m helped now with one young man by the name of Enos who has joined me in assisting with the film shows. We have begun meetings on Tuesdays and Thursday of each week to counsel those who have accepted Christ as their personal Savior, and the number continues to grow. Please pray for us and the ministry. May God’s Name be praised. We shall, ALL WE CAN, for the Lord.”

32 showings to 1475 people with 52 decisions for Jesus Christ.

HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson

(For a period of time, InterComm will be sharing Heartbeats from the Ken Anderson Films era.)

The VIP’S and the PIV’S.

VIP’S you know, but I’ve added PIV to my vocabulary, as “Pilgrims Invisible”. We know, of course, in God’s sight we are neither - no big shots, no little shots, just Christians along for the ride and Christians truly seeking discipleship. I’m not sure one can make it as a disciple and also as a VIP. True, some Christians are of necessity “Visible”. They can still wear the PIV designation, however. It simply means that - beneath their outer viewed conduct and conversations - flows a river of silent, secret reality, a true closeness to God.

With all my heart, I want to be one of God’s PIV’s.
