| "Mr Gabriel
Krabadja of the Central African Republic" |
“Dear brothers
in Christ, I am Gabriel Krabadja from the Central African Republic.
I am currently the Secretary General of the French Language Service
for my denomination. As such, I am responsible for the unpaid
volunteers in evangelism association. Please tell me about InterComm
and your work in World Evangelism.”
This was our introduction in May 2006 to this unique servant of God.
Gabriel represented 6 men and 4 women also dedicated to preach
repentance in a similar manner as John the Baptist. Their 5-point
strategy included evangelism with audiovisuals as item #2.
French and English video plus a Torch Kit arrived early in 2007.
“My group began to use your Media Evangelism Tools already,” Gabriel
wrote, “and we pray God will bless you for this provision. You will
soon receive my Report.”
He kept his word
with a quarterly Report covering 25 Torch Kit and 3 video shows
to 4,779 people resulting in 313 conversions. “People are
most interested by Filmstrips because we can tell the stories in our
National Language. Also we are able to make the show with such a big
picture on the wall. The Torch Kit is so easy to move from place to
place, much more convenient than the videos. Most of this ministry
took place in Bossenbele. 28,000 people live there. They are very
poor. Most of the city was destroyed during the 2002-2003 Civil War.
Islam is growing very fast now. So please pray for our work for the
Lord.”
On his 2nd quarterly Report, he shared, “Evangelism through
audiovisual produces more impact here in rural villages because the
people easily identify with the actors in the Torch Kit stories and
realize they need to ask forgiveness for their sins.”
"Gabriel Krabadja and his Sons Receiving
Torch Kit Materials"
In early 2008, Gabriel and his team launched a 2-year training
program to follow up with individuals who had accepted Christ
through their village ministry. This comprehensive program is
carefully designed to walk a new believer through the early steps of
an anchored life in Jesus Christ. What an awesome commitment on the
team’s part to help build intelligent new believers. Satan
retaliated by inciting violence against one of the new churches. Not
only was the church burned to the ground with all of its equipment,
but much worse, the pastor’s home was also torched, and his 4
children became martyrs. Yet, the work was not discouraged. It was
strengthened. The training programs went forward and so did the
ministry of AVangelism. “I write you to share we have just
completed another village tour in rural areas. Where no churches
existed, people are now mobilizing to build new churches, even by
gathering local building materials. Glory to God! Besides this, 28
more people took baptism. Brothers of InterComm, we send you our
thanks for your contributions and may God bless you all.”
Reports from Gabriel and his team include 214 showings to
52,424 people with 13,884 decisions for Christ.

FULL SPEED AHEAD, CAMBODIA PROJECT
For most of you
reading this issue, October is providing many
beautiful days with vibrant colors as fall’s
paintbrush transitions summer’s greener landscapes.
Lane and Jill, however, are just digging in to the
very hot first full week of recording 5 films into
the Khmer Language of Cambodia in Phnom Penh.
The first week is usually the most challenging, as
we carefully bring our Recording Team up to speed
with the process and daily challenge of getting each
and every line as high quality as possible. We are
scheduled to record through October 29. So pray -
pray - pray. Also, please pray about our visas -
WE NEED 5 MORE DAYS THAN THE 30 ALLOTTED ON OUR
ORIGINAL VISA. So we may even need to leave the
country, and re-enter in order to have all the days
needed for our work. God knows the need, but we will
appreciate your intervention.
SPIRITUAL EXPLOSION
Rev Joseph
Otchere from Accra, Ghana writes:
“Many of the prisoners wept bitterly while
watching the video, PATMOS. Afterwards, they
commented on committing their lives to Jesus Christ.
This video ministry has brought a higher spiritual
explosion into the prisons. Our team has also been
deeply touched by the ministry of these films.”
He reported 4 showings to 1,350 people with 480
people accepting Christ.
NATIVE DOCTOR
Dr. Joy
Agbazue from Enugu, Nigeria writes:
“We faced some interesting challenges, as we have
gone out to share Christ through Media Evangelism.
Recently we were confronted by a native doctor
(often called a witch doctor). This man had been
resisting the Light of Christ coming into his
village. He emerged at our venue, collected sand at
the place where the Projector was set, and started
making an incantation. We did not confront him
directly, as the weapons of our warfare are not
carnal. But through God, we prayed earnestly to pull
down the strongholds. Shortly after he started his
incantation, the clear skies began to change, and
dark clouds began to roll in. We raised the levels
of our prayers and made strong declarations unto
God, and the victory was ours, as a mighty wind
arose and drove the dark clouds away. Even so, evil
was about, and the Projector Bulb burned out,
following one of our showings. On the 2nd day, we
began using the Torch Kit, and again the bulbs
burned out. But we were able to continue telling the
story even without the pictures, making an altar
call possible. God was overcoming deep spiritual
opposition and bringing victory.”
A Report of 16 showings to 1,125 people with 223
responding to the salvation invitation.
AUDIOVISUAL EVANGELISM IS VERY IMPORTANT
Rev Richard
Katarahweire of Kabale, Uganda writes:
“We have observed that people do not rapidly
stand up and confess their sins immediately
following our Film Showings, but we must never give
up in preaching the Gospel. Many of the people come
just to watch the videos, as any other film, but the
message often convicts them, and many of them are
reacting and taking a stand for the Lord. People
from my church have realized that audiovisual
methods of evangelism are very important. This has
caused us to set every Thursday for Media Ministry,
which is working very well, and we’re very
encouraged.”
A Report of 27 showings to 2,271 people with 233
salvation decisions.
TELUGU VIDEOS ARE VERY ENCOURAGING
Mr Thumati
Kumar of Andhra Pradesh, lndia wrote:
“I would like to inform you that the Telugu
videos are very encouraging to our ministry. As the
mother tongue of this area, our audience is very
happy to hear clearly the Telugu Language without us
making translation. Now we are most often just using
the Telugu films over the last many months. My wife
and children join with me to say Thank You for your
support and encouragement of this ministry.”
He sent a Report of 49 showings to 2,578 people
with 257 decisions for Christ, 129 of them coming
from Telugu Video Ministry Tools.
A PILGRIM’S PROGRESS
by Lane Anderson
Japan, Part I
The majestic volcanic cone of Mt Fuji was visible outside my 1st
Class window as we approached our touchdown in Tokyo. There I was on
the trip of a lifetime. Somehow missing my 18th birthday didn’t seem
so important. Our connecting flight to Nagoya was much less posh,
but we were graciously met and whisked away to the lovely Japanese
home of TEAM missionaries, Phyllis & Ted Brannen. While serving a
small-town church in the USA, the Brannen’s had met my parents
through the Youth For Christ ministry. They joined our family for a
week one summer at Camp Decorah near LaCrosse, Wisconsin. This Boy
Scout property became a Christian camp one week each summer, and my
parents helped staff and direct activities. You see the Brannens
were praying about becoming missionaries at that time and needed to
get away and spend some quiet time before the Lord. One day in a
moment of jest, for which he was legend, my Dad reached into his
pocket, pulled out a penny, and stated, “If God is calling you to
the mission field, you can use this penny to start your fund.”
That very first penny not only started their missionary fund, but it
cemented in their hearts God was indeed calling them into full-time
foreign missions. That very penny became a lifetime treasure and
symbol of God’s answered prayer. Now, many years later, they were
joyfully serving the Lord in Japan, and we had come to encourage
them.
We enjoyed a day in their home, and then quickly packed again for
our return trip to Tokyo. This time, however, would be a short
vacation for the Brannens, who would not only drive us back but
introduce us to the many sights, smells, and tastes of their Japan.
Our chariot was classic American, an early 1950's Chevrolet Delivery
Panel Van. Probably not the best tourist vehicle. Nevertheless, this
van was critical for their ministry and very reliable. In today’s
world, think of a Ford Explorer with no windows. You get the idea.
Very large for the times, this truck had road presence, when size
really mattered on the highway. If you are bigger than most other
vehicles, they get out of the way. Look out AJ Foyt, here we come!
Driving across Japan to this day without seatbelts, of course,
remains one of my most entrenched memories. Thank you, Guardian
Angels!
