TAKE - 2
|
|
| “Torch Kit
Storyteller – Rev Jimmy Ruakoah, Uganda” |
Take 2. A
common occurrence when producing a movie. Today it also fits our
current relationship with Rev. Jimmy Ruakoah of Uganda. We
first connected with Jimmy through the Haggai Institute Training
Center when Rev Donn Anderson led his class on Media Evangelism.
Jimmy was quick to respond to our offers of helps and by late 1996 a
Torch Kit, videos, and other tools were shipped to his Arua address.
13 months later the package finally arrived at his post office. Slow
but sure! We were patient in waiting for Reports from Jimmy. Yet, 2
years later, we had received nothing, and we were to eventually
learn that he had left his church with no other information being
provided. Over the years we have seen this happen far too often. We,
therefore, simply commit the man, ministry, and the media tools to
God’s care, and we closed his file in 2002. Even when we close a
file, we maintain a history page in our computer data base, just in
case God brings him back to us.
Last September, Jimmy broke his 5-year silence when he wrote, “I
am thanking the Lord for giving me this opportunity of writing you.
Sir, I must begin with an apology. These last 5 years I have pursued
my Masters in Theological Studies. I am just now back and in full
operation again, serving the Lord. I am glad to inform you I have
posted my Report. I hope everyone will be thrilled, as I am to see
how greatly the Lord is blessing my ministry.”
His Report was thrilling, listing 32 showings to 15,202 people
with 4,525 souls responding to the invitation to receive Christ.
Wow! What a comeback!

“ Rev Ruakoah with his Agape Children ’ s Ministry ”
Jimmy has become a regular communicator now, which has allowed
us to upgrade his Torch Kit with a larger selection of drama
stories. We also have provided him with a supply of our new
video disks. In response to word that our Prayer Warriors had
prayed for his ministry, Jimmy wrote, “I received your
encouraging letter that your prayer partners had prayed for me
and my Agape Children’s Ministry. May God lead me through to His
glory. My new AVangelism Report is on the way and should arrive
soon.”
Another blessing, 22 showings to 7,593 persons with 2,005
souls responding to receive Christ.
“Government and Christian leaders have told me that media is
the best tool to reach the most people with the Gospel. Praise
God! But sometimes with larger crowds,” Jimmy writes, “I nearly
lose my voice, as I tell the stories. Please pray God to supply
a microphone and speaker for me.”
Our friends in the Third World may not always communicate with
us, as we might prefer, but they certainly show us up, don’t
they, as they share Christ with their countrymen. Let’s continue
to pray God’s blessing on these wonderful AVangelists.
MYANMAR NARGIS CYCLONE
FINAL REPORT
Rev Myint Nwe
and his sister, Cho Lay Aung, report,
“We have been able to support many
individuals with construction materials and
food, including many neighboring
non-believers, because of the support from
you and other friends. Before we provided
the actual assistance, we share the Gospel
message through the Torch Kit and through
the Burmese Language videos that you have
provided us. This has been a very effective
method, and many people were really touched
in their heart. Some were very hungry to
know the Words of God through audiovisual
media. A large number of these non-believers
began coming to church regularly and
watching and listening to the message of the
media. This is over 300 people every
weekend. Following this ministry, we also
have fed these people before sending them
home. Now many former non-believers are
sharing their testimonies on how God has
been so good to them. They have accepted
Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and
have asked us to give them baptism. God has
provided great material blessings to these
people, and they have received spiritual
benefits as well. Thank you all for your
supports for these ministry activities.”

LIFE AND DEATH IN ORISSA, INDIA
Rev S Daniel Shayan recently shared
with InterComm.
“Since August 24 the Hindu Fundamentalist Groups are
traveling from village to village destroying churches, Christian
institutions, burning houses, and killing Christians. Thousands
of extremists have come from the States of Gujarat, Chhattisgarh,
and Madhya Pradesh to help perpetrate this violence, which has
spread to virtually all districts of the Orissa State. Their
agenda is to wipe out Christians and Christianity from India,
starting from Orissa. So far 127 churches and Christian
institutions have been attacked, and 4,000 Christian houses have
been burned down and destroyed. 3 persons have been burned to
death, and 34 others have been killed by Hindu religious
militants and extremists. Many thousands of people are missing.
The state government of Orissa is so far very slow in tackling
the situation, while the Hindu militants continue to liberally
attack Christians all over the State. We request concerned
Christians all over the world to pray for the persecuted
believers in Orissa.”
TORCH
PRODUCTION BEGINS
“Ken D Anderson Assembling Torch Kits”
It’s taken
nearly a year for all the transitional issues to fall into
place, but we are pleased to thank our Lord that we are just now
sending out the very first Torch Kits, completely assembled here
at InterComm. Our previous supplier has turned over all of the
tooling and cooperated in a wonderful way to be sure we have all
the information and ability to begin fabricating these Torch
Kits ourselves. Nearly 30 Torch Kits will be sent out in the
next couple of weeks, all over the world, from this first batch.
Please commit these Torch Kits to God’s great care that He might
bless each one with tremendous fruit for His Kingdom, as men,
women, and children see and hear the stories and commit their
lives to Christ. Giving will always be needed to maintain the
Torch Kit Ministry, as replacement parts and Filmstrips and
postage consume large amounts of dollars every year, making the
equipping of these tools possible. Thank you to each of you, who
help in this process of making available this low-tech, but
extremely effective AVangelism Tool.

"New Torch Kits”
NATIONAL
LANGUAGE
Mr Gabriel
Krabadja from the Central African Republic writes:
“People are most interested by Filmstrip Ministry because it
allows us to explain the story with our National Language. We
can also show the stories with big pictures, as we can make the
picture as wide as the screen, sheet, or wall that we have
available. Also, the Torch Kit is so much easier to move around
than video equipment. Thank you so much for providing these
AVangelism Materials for our ministry. These days Islam is
growing in our country, and Christianity is shrinking. People
are easily influenced. So please pray for our ministry here. May
God bless you.”
28 showings to 4,779 people with 313 decisions for Jesus
Christ.
JESUS THE SHOP
OWNER
Evangelist Joy Agbazue from Nigeria writes:
“At Ugbo Odogwu Village we witnessed a miracle. In that while the
showing was taking place, a young man emerged and commanded us to
stop. He said we were not permitted to carry out a Crusade on his
land. God, however, intervened, as the young man’s mother was among
the participants. She rose, challenged, and rebuked her son, and he
left. The woman then apologized to us. She even brought out chairs
that we might sit down. She further made her son close the shop and
stop selling while the showings were taking place, saying ‘Jesus was
not only the owner of the land, but owner of the shop’. God is so
good to us during our Media Showings. Please pray that He will
continue to protect us.”
17 showings to 1,717 people with 590 decisions for Jesus Christ.
HEARTBEAT by Ken Anderson
(For a period of time, InterComm will be sharing Heartbeats from
the Ken Anderson Films era.)
Increasingly one needs
to take care, especially when talking to certain types of people
lest we use a common word, which would be given an entirely
different meaning from that intended. Take the word
Fundamentalist, for example. “Are you a Fundamentalist?”
a man asked me. “What do you mean by the word?” I
asked. “Well”, he said, “are you straight down the line?”
That was a new one. To some being a Fundamentalist denotes
the unwillingness or the inability to see beyond one’s own
denominational fence line. But let me share the word as it appears
in the “Dictionary of my Own Heart” - Fundamentalist
- “A child of God, whose entire lifestyle is built on the
Scriptural Basics of regeneration through the death and
resurrection of Christ, plus a life guidance system, totally
dependent upon the outflow of the Holy Spirit, as He activates the
Word of God in every area of a Christian’s life.”
