INTERCOMM IN IRAQ
Saddam Hussein by America's
finest, entrepreneurs are popping up all over the war-torn
country of Iraq and numbered among them are Satellite
Technology Businesses, banned under the previous
regime. The entire Middle East
receives most of their television through the Satellite
Dish, and now one by one people in Iraq are tuning in the
broadcasts of SAT-7, which has nearly 50 of the Ken
Anderson Films programs in the Arabic Language.
Praise God with
us for this new opportunity to see our material used as a
mix of programs offered to Christians throughout the
Arabic-speaking world. The Gospel is being spread at an
ever-increasing rate, because of such technology. Yet, we
must remember to pray for our Arab friends, who just as
quickly, can come under persecution from Muslim
extremists. Let's continue to pray that God's Kingdom will
be spread widely throughout Iraq and elsewhere across the
Middle East.
FILIPINO SOLDIERS SURRENDER TO CHRIST
In our August
Newsletter, we introduced you to Benigno and Joy Reyes.
What a tremendous
ministry
God has been giving them throughout their area of the
Philippines. In a recent report and letter they wrote:
"We are really
excited about what God is doing in our Film Ministry. We
are so busy we
sometimes cannot accommodate everybody.
God is opening more doors for us to minister than ever
before, and we are so blessed and encouraged by all the
response we see from people wherever we go, testifying how
the movies have touched their lives. Recently at a
military camp, many of the men came forward and even while
they leaned on their weapons, bowed their heads, and
accepted Christ as their personal Savior. Again, thank you
for partnering with us. We pray that God will continue to
bless your ministry and that we might be able to expand
into greater opportunities if it's God's will."
The Report included
77 showings with 17,790 accepting
Christ.
CHURCH PLANTING
Evangelist MA Sunday
Owolabi of Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria writes:
"Recently God
helped me to use films for planting a new church, and the
church is growing rapidly. How we praise God. In another
village, a troublesome man accepted Christ, following the
Film Showing. The pastor in charge of the church said that
even if only this one man was saved through this Film
Showing, it is a great miracle.
Later we were using
PATMOS and PILGRIM'S PROGRESS to follow up with new
converts in the first Sunday worship of a new church
planted. God is doing great things. Glory be to His Name."
He reported
9 showings with 1,148 people accepting
Christ.

SIMPLIFYING THE PREACHING
Dr. David Usoro
of Akwa, Ibom State, Nigeria writes:
"The 10 Videos
you have sent me have taken me to different parts of my
State and many people have witnessed Christ preached to
them in a different way. The Videos make it possible to
simplify the preaching of the Gospel to
multitudes without much
stress. People easily gather when they learn there is
something to see. If you send me a Torch Kit, more can be
done. The devil knows how important this tool would be for
my ministry, and yet God is greater than Satan. Please
help me succeed further with this additional ministry
tool."
Dr. Usoro reported
100 showings with 168,555 accepting
Christ.
IDEALLY SUITED
Evangelist
Tafese Alemu Dengeso of Bongo, Ethiopia writes:
"Your help in
sharing God’s Word with the people of my country is really
inexpressible in terms of words. God bless you. The
package of media tools has reached us safely. We just
don’t know how to thank you enough for your kindness and
generosity. These tools are ideally suited for our
surroundings here. The Torch Kit is the nicest thing
that’s happened to us since I started my evangelistic
activity. As I evaluated the Kit the last 3 days, I see it
will not only help us to teach drama through stories, but
it will encourage people to come and listen to us. Already
it has helped me get the opportunity to share God’s Word,
and this is going to play an important role in
evangelistic activity in my country. Thanks to God!
ADULTS AND KIDS
Edwin D Araña
of Iloilo City, Philippines writes:
"The Torch Kit
and Videos you have sent have given us a great help for
spreading the Gospel in the rural areas. These kinds of
tools help us in our evangelism for both adults and kids.
We’re so thankful that InterComm has given us these
materials. We believe they will go a long way towards
bringing success to our efforts and that many will be
saved through the implementation of these media tools."
HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson
During my 25
years as a teacher at the Haggai Institute, I met many
unusual Christians. One time it could be a senator or
congressman. I remember the mayor of Port-of-Spain,
Trinidad. Also, the Anglical Archbishop of Myanmar
(Burma), who became a fascinating friend. We had to be
extremely careful with some of the men's identities. For
example, the banker from one country didn't dare have his
name or country publicly identified. To have done so would
have jeopardized the safety of his family.
But none quite
so fascinating as his highness, the king of a small
country within Nigeria.
When King
Joseph first arrived, some of the other men made fun of
him. King Joseph reacted with tact and patience. He had
the real manner of royalty!
It took only
moments for the delegates to recognize this man was indeed
of royal blood. He was a king! His little nation in
Nigeria comprised less than 100 square miles of territory,
small indeed compared to the great land mass that makes up
Nigeria!
When he was a
boy, he saw many audiovisuals shown by missionaries in
Nigeria. I do not remember if it was a Film or a Filmstrip
that caught his attention and led him to faith in Jesus
Christ.
I do recall how
excited he was over our Filmstrips, especially those which
told African stories. We made sure he brought a Torch Kit
back with him to his country.
I would have
loved to have gone with him and to see his royal highness
screening THE CAT AND THE CUSTARD in the public square
just outside his thatch-covered "Palace".
Do pray for the
thousands of InterComm Filmstrips, presenting the Gospel
to hungry hearts around the world.
