AUDIOVISUAL MINISTRY -
IMPOSSIBLE
|

Torch Kit
Arrives |
|
Typically each Christian
leader InterComm equips throughout the world has little or no
media for use in their ministry. These deeply committed leaders
have been selected for advanced evangelism training, however,
through the observing eyes of others in their country,
challenged to bring dedicated servants of our Lord to the
training programs of the Haggai Institute. Rev Paul Thang from
Myanmar received such training in Singapore in early 1999.
“It has been really such a wonderful experience for me. I was
richly blessed by the concept of audiovisual evangelism while in
Singapore, taught by Mr Donald Leow. My earnest prayer to God is
that He will provide these much needed materials for
our use. We are a group of fully committed people.
Audiovisual ministry, however, appears impossible for
us, as we live in

the poorest of poor countries. We cannot afford
the costs. Please be serious with us in prayer for the soon
establishment of our heart’s Godly desire to receive these
tools.” |
Rev Thang and his team were already serving the Lord in their
ministry, Jesus Is the Answer. They had established the Bethel
Children’s Home to meet the needs of Myanmar’s unwanted
children. They also established Bethel Training Courses, which
were created to train up full time Christian workers from all
denominations. They actively pursued Gospel literature ministry,
and Rev Thang lectures in the Gospel for Asia Bible College. So
it is people like Rev. Thang, already fully committed to serving
the Lord,
who most often
catch the vision for media evangelism. A complete Torch Kit and
other materials were shipped.

The man in this picture heard about Christ many
years before but never really understood how Jesus
could uniquely touch his life until he came to our
Torch Kit showing. He lovingly brought his child
and watched with an open heart. When the showing
was finished, he knelt on his knees with us
praying with tears in his eyes, promising God that
he would now begin coming to church and live the
life of a true believer. God used the Torch Kit
to bring about this miracle. |

“What a great
blessing of God it will be when our package arrives. I am really
encouraged by your love and deep concern for the lost souls over
here. Please tell us how we can pray for your ministry.”
Materials arrived safely soon thereafter. “I am leaving soon for
ministry near the India border. This northern Chin State has
great needs. I plan to take the Torch Kit, which should be a
most useful tool. Pray we can bring back more poor orphans as
well.”
Rev Thang trained others to use his Kit and often it becomes
difficult to receive complete Reports on their activities. It is
through your prayers for these workers that the power of the
Holy Spirit is allowed to work. It is often quite difficult to
travel and minister in the northern Chin State where they spend
so much of their time.
“I and my wife, Duati, with the orphans here keep consistently
praying for your ministry ever since we became partners together
in God’s work.”
What a great blessing and YOU are a partner in this. On a recent
Report he wrote, “It was a great joy to see another 27 souls
accept Christ through media shows. The Torch Kit is such a
useful tool with the illiterate people in all parts of my
country.”
To date his Reports reflect 304 showings to 6,573 people with 94
souls accepting Christ. When we realize most of these showings
were to groups of about 20 people, you can understand what
remote and village evangelism is all about. “I am always
grateful to the Lord for having a prayer partner like you for
this ministry. Truly your wonderful ministry is always in our
thoughts and prayers.”
Aren’t you glad God brought you in contact with InterComm so you
could meet such wonderful people!
BANG FOR THE BUCK
It is not uncommon to receive
gracious comments from supporters of InterComm, and the
following is just too good not to share. A faithful contributor
in Ohio wrote with a contribution for a new Torch Kit, “It sure
is fun giving to InterComm. I think InterComm may be the best
bang for the buck in Christendom.”
We praise God for joyful spirits in giving!
AT THE CHIEF'S HOME
Pastor Bandaogo Boukari
from Burkina Faso writes:
“The Filmstrip is gaining souls for the Lord. It allows us time
to interpret the message into the local language. The films are
shown according to circumstances in the prevailing villages, as
we have a good selection and can provide the right story for the
right situation. Many lives have been changed. In one location
many of the films have been shown in the chief’s house. This has
brought great success. Please pray for the new converts and that
we’ll be able to provide churches in some of these villages we
have visited. Very few churches are found in these areas. In
some locations there are many who have never heard about the
Lord Jesus. So love cannot be found among them. In every house
is found a god, which they term as their protector. After
viewing your video, THE CHARM, which talks about their situation
and how to get a solution, many were touched and asked us to
pray for them and they gave their lives to the Lord. Then they
invited us to their homes where they destroyed these gods by
burning them. They experienced joy and love for the first time
in their lives. We rejoice for what the Lord has done, but
follow up is very important and churches are needed in these
villages. Please pray for the Lord to bring more workers into
these fields where pastors are so limited.”
Report of 38 showings to 3,540 people.
WORSHIP IN THE RAIN
Evangelist Milton Terang
from India writes:
“We just returned from a very difficult area, a true stronghold
of the devil. I am bubbling over with joy at what happened. I
gave the first Torch Kit showing there, using FAITH’S FAMILY.
There were 200 people present and 45 made a decision to
accept Jesus as Lord. The second night it began to rain, and I
could hardly complete the show. We were viewing THE CAT & THE
CUSTARD. It was a mixed audience of children, young people, and
adults, about 230 people attending. We had a wonderful worship
in the rain. We were all drenched by the time it was over but
could not stop praising God. I am so thrilled to see people come
to Christ, strengthening their faith through this ministry.”
CRIMINALS CAME TO CHRIST
Pastor
Crisostomo D Ferenal from the Philippines writes:
“Your films are very effective in evangelism. Sometimes our
lives become at risk, especially when we have showings in
dangerous areas in the mountains. Recently we were surrounded by
rebels, armed men, but we were notharmed because they liked the
film showings. Many of these criminals came to the Lord and
accepted Christ as their Savior. Please continue to pray for
God’s protection, especially during our night time travels and
film shows.”
10 Films Showings to 1,256 people with 843 decisions for
Christ.
HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson
Last month in
the October Heartbeat, I introduced the idea of two new senses,
namely the sixth and the seventh. In my opinion, this is the
most important teaching I have found in the Scriptures. The
Bible is full, in the Old Testament and New, with information on
these two motivations.
The Bible abounds with guidelines and challenges concerning both
of them.
For example, take a quick look at Jeremiah 29:13. “You will seek
Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all of your heart.
When you meet this requirement in the Scriptures, you have added
the Sixth Sense to your Spiritual repertoire.
1 John 2:15-17, “Do not love the world or anything in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For everything inthe world - the cravings of sinful man, the
lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does -
comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its
desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives
forever.”
Why, then, do so many Christians have problems? Why is there so
little victory in their lives? Why do they fight, argue, change
churches?
Are the lusts and pride of the world, to have no part in the
church?
That’s the way it should be but, unfortunately, often the
Christian seems more involved in pride and lust than
unbelievers. I’ll take time to expand on the concepts of lust in
next month’s HEARTBEAT.
