FILMS SERVED AS BAIT

"McDonald & Julie Imaikop"

Calabar, located nearly 40 miles east of Lagos, is the last Nigerian coastal city, located on the Gulf of Guinea, just next to the western border of Cameroon and at the base of Africa’s western hump. It is from this locale Dr McDonald Imaikop and his wife of over 30 years, Julie, have served the Lord through their ministry, the Revival Mission, Inc. For many years, 16mm films were rented from various sources. Then in 1993, a Georgia ministry brought the Imaikops to the USA, and they contacted us directly, asking for a supply of good used Ken Anderson Films. 5 titles for youth ministry were supplied and hand carried home where ministry began in earnest. In one newsletter Dr. Imaikop wrote, “Christian films are rated one of the best and effective tools in reaching difficult and closed tribal villages in my country. We use them for church planting and building, and I can personally vouch that this method works. We have been involved in planting several new churches across the nation and have recorded capacity crowds. In one village the films served as bait to draw people to the village square by the hundreds. These people worshiped all kinds of gods and goddesses, as well as ancestral spirits. The local church was struggling. The membership dwindling. But today, following our crusade, the pastor reports he has no room for all the converts. Our films have been supplied gratis from Ken Anderson Films, now known as InterComm. We owe them much appreciation."

Actually, we here at InterComm owe you, our faithful readers, much appreciation for making such a Report possible.

Comments on his first Report received stated, “The churches we are serving so far have quadrupled in membership through the AVangelism program. We are also reaching university students through some programs and in the villages we are seeing witch doctors and members of local cults surrender their lives to Christ. One entire village stepped forward at the salvation invitation. Your films have really been a tremendous blessing. Thank you for giving us such powerful tools to use in planting churches and winning lost souls to Jesus. Our goal next year is to plant 30 new churches by using your films to draw souls into His Kingdom.”

Exciting words, aren’t they? InterComm was able to add 10 more films in late 1996 to his program. Imagine a country, which allows ministry in high schools, colleges, and universities with no restrictions. Additional showings have been provided for politicians, government officials, and military personnel. Showings even take place on soccer fields, street corners, motor parks, and other such places. When the Billy Graham Ministry contacted us in 2002 for help in selecting worthy recipients of their good used films, we enthusiastically recommended the Imaikop’s ministry. These people are doing God’s work in a great way. Yes, it means they would use our films less. However we must not withhold God’s blessing for fear of competition or a reduction in reporting data. God has blessed Nigeria greatly through this joint Project, and we praise His Name.

                                                                "A Film Showing in Nigeria"

Over the years, we have not only supplied 16mm Films, but also many bulbs to keep his old Projector operational. In 2003, we replaced his 16mm Projector and also began providing films on video tape first, and now on video disk. He writes, “The DVD films we are now using from InterComm are very effective on the large screen. Our outreach has resulted in wonderful church growth.”

Over the last 14 years of relationship with Dr. Imaikop we have received many exciting Reports. Usually the salvation decisions seem very high. For this reason, as we evaluate Reports from around the world, we always include in our newsletter the following disclaimer, “These are the Reports We Received. Only God Knows a Man’s Heart.” Since 1993, Dr. Imaikop has reported 227 showings to 253,486 persons with 162,558 decisions. To God be the glory!

Recently he wrote, “We are grateful and proud to be associated with InterComm through the worldwide ministry of AVangelism.”

PHILIPPINES LANGUAGE RECORDING PROJECT UPDATE

 "Filipino Language Team"

Praise God! The 8th and final film has been edited, meaning that all 6 Ilongo Language films and 2 Cebuano Language films have been completed. Several have already been approved and mastering for disk duplication in country has been finished. The remaining titles await approval from our Project Committee in Koronadal City before masters will be completed for future duplication and distribution across the country.

Thank you for your prayers for this Project. Much high quality work was completed. Although funds raised for the Project were substantially below our budget, we have been able through the General Fund to finish everything promised. We are grateful to God for that reality. Please remember this Project in the months and years ahead, as faithful AVangelists use the materials, primarily with Muslim people, at great risk. Ask God to bless the ministry of AVangelism that many men, women, and children may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

LABOR OF LOVE

Evangelist Wealth Aigbovbioise from Nigeria writes:

“In 1995 you sent my ministry a Torch Kit Projector, which has been in use since that time. It has really been a blessing. In one of our most recent outreaches in a city called Michika 700 people came out with 192 responding to the Gospel message. These were predominantly Muslim people. This was achieved by God’s grace and through the help of a handful of young men, serving Jesus with me. Consequently I want to offer my sincere gratitude for the Torch Kit Projector. It has helped us a great deal. My prayers are that God will richly reward this labor of love here in my country.”

NEPAL SHALL BE A SECULAR STATE

"Dr. Mahendra Bhattarai"

A great event occurred in the life of the Christian church in the country of Nepal last year when the government in May re-organized and published their proclamations. Item #8 clearly states Nepal shall be a secular state.

You probably know that through history Nepal has been the only official Hindu Kingdom in the world. But this has now been set aside. Praise be to God. It now means that the church in Nepal is no longer illegal. It is not necessary to be underground, so to speak, and persecution as it has been known through history is expected to be lessened. Groups can now organize themselves as associations and Christians do not any longer feel as though they are being treated as 2nd class citizens;

Our friend and co-worker on the Nepali Language Recording Project, Dr Mahendra Bhattarai, writes: “Our God is a God of promise, faithful and One who answers our prayer. It is our goal that non-Christians may be inspired to understand that they, too, have access to the redemption and salvation if they accept Christ as being the Son of God, who takes away all their sins.” Certainly we can all praise God together for this wonderful news about the church and AVangelism ministries of Nepal.

A TERRIBLE AND INVISIBLE WAR

Mr Adrien Diridiri from Burundi writes:

“This is a message of thanks to let you know I have received the package of precious tools you have sent me to communicate the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May God bless you in your ministry. It is important I inform you that last week the video film, ZAWADI, was used, and a wonderful work was done among the people of the Gatumba area, which is 15 kilometers west of Bujumbura. About 100 people chose to receive Jesus Christ after watching this film. Many of them are young people. Others, who have seen the film, have continued to request it again and again for use in their areas. I am now learning how to properly use the Torch Kit and other items you sent. I will keep you informed. Please continue to pray for our country, as we are engaged in a terrible and invisible war with the Islamic spirit here.”

HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson

(For a period of time, InterComm will be sharing Heartbeats from the Ken Anderson Films era.)

What does it mean to keep your eyes on Christ? A seminar speaker once said, “Unless you can visualize your goal you can’t possibly realize it.”

So does that plead the case for the cause of crucifixes on the wall, the Gethsemane prayer scene, Saliman’s head of Christ?

For many years the first verses of John’s Gospel had been among my most cherished portions of Scripture.

“In the beginning was the logos.” The Word!

Then it hit me! To keep my eyes on Jesus, as a Christian, means to relate His Word to every event of life. . .the problems, the blessings, the challenges, whatever.

“Looking unto Jesus. . .”

I believe it’s really possible, through an increasingly fuller application of the Scripture to life’s events.

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."
