EXTENDING HIS KINGDOM

"Mr Thumati Vijaya Kumar"

It wasn’t for lack of interest on the part of Thumati Kumar that it took us nearly 2 years to begin his equipping process. And it wasn’t for lack of knowledge either. Our good ministry friend, Donald Leow from Singapore, had planted the seed of AVangelism deeply in the heart of this saint during his 2002 Haggai Institute Training Sessions. It probably was the fault of our spiritual opposition that delayed the launching of this aggressive Media Evangelist. God has been greatly blessing this man’s ministry these last 5 years. Just imagine, over the last 60 months Thumati Vijaya Kumar has reported 453 showings. That’s an average of 7 ½ per month to 77 men, women, and children. But just try to imagine this. Nearly 4 people in every audience have chosen to receive Jesus Christ.

Although we began communicating by letter mail in mid-2002, his letter mail, his friends carrying mail to the States and mailing, and his emails all failed to connect with us until early October 2003. Even then we had to letter mail a copy of our email response. You begin to get the idea here. By God’s grace, normalcy set in early in 2004, after our package of Torch Kit, plus Hindi and English Language videos finally arrived safely in his hands. From that day forward, Thumati was off to the races. Like a man on a mission! “Kindly uphold our ministry in your prayers,” he wrote, “as we are going to use Media Tools for the Lord’s ministry and to extend His Kingdom here in India.”

“Once while waiting for a train, an 18-year-old girl approached and thanked me for recently coming to her village with our Torch Kit. She had learned that children should respect their parents. Even though she is from a Hindu family, God’s message brought peace between her and her parents. How I thank God that media attracts the youth, and they hear the Gospel, as evidenced by this girl’s testimony and how God’s message had spoken clearly to her heart.”

"Mr Kumar Presenting Telugu PILGRIM ’ S PROGRESS"

By late 2006, we finally had completed the Telugu Language Recording Project in his State, and the disks arrived in his hands just before Christmas. “Kindly convey my heartfelt thanks to the donors who made these new ministry tools possible.” Fully one half of his next Report listed results of the Telugu video showings. God was doing a new work in his 3-year-old Media Ministry. Telugu, the mother tongue, the heart language of his State, was drawing souls unto Christ. “I would like to inform you that the Telugu DVD’s are very encouraging to our ministry. Our Telugu audience are very pleased to hear their language from the speakers and not just our translations. Following 1 program, a woman came to me and asked for prayer. As I prayed, she began weeping deeply. She told me the message of Telugu PILGRIM’S PROGRESS had touched her heart. She was a Hindu. She had only come to watch the movie out of curiosity. Now she had asked Jesus Christ to be her Savior. How I praise the Lord for these tools.”. Please pray for these converts - 1,784 so far! But also pray for the remaining 35,000 souls who have been witnessed the Gospel, thanks to Thumati Kumar of Andhra Pradesh State, India.

NATIVE DOCTOR

Dr Joy Agbazue from Enugu, Nigeria writes:

“We faced some interesting challenges, as we have gone out to share Christ through Media Evangelism. Recently we were confronted by a native doctor (often called a witch doctor). This man had been resisting the Light of Christ coming into his village. He emerged at our venue, collected sand at the place where the Projector was set, and started making an incantation. We did not confront him directly, as the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. But through God, we prayed earnestly to pull down the strongholds. Shortly after he started his incantation, the clear skies began to change, and dark clouds began to roll in. We raised the levels of our prayers and made strong declarations unto God, and the victory was ours, as a mighty wind arose and drove the dark clouds away. Even so, evil was about, and the Projector Bulb burned out, following one of our showings. On the 2nd day, we began using the Torch Kit, and again the bulbs burned out. But we were able to continue telling the story even without the pictures, making an altar call possible. God was overcoming deep spiritual opposition and bringing victory.”

A Report of 16 showings to 1,125 people with 223 responding to the salvation invitation.

CAMBODIA

"Bunsam Rath, Project Leader"

As the TORCH reaches your hands, Lane and Jill Anderson will just be returning from their Language Recording Project in the Khmer Language of Cambodia. Please now keep in prayer Ken D Anderson, as he begins the Editing Process, and then completes the professional mix of the Khmer, music, and sound effects so that one by one these videos can return and begin ministry in Cambodia.

MOSQUITO NETS NEEDED

Rev Ackim P Chali of Zambia writes:

“In our areas of ministry, many people want us to spend more days with them so that they can keep seeing videos, but we don’t have any Mosquito Nets, and there are so many mosquitos. Would you please pray for the provision of Mosquito Nets so that we can expand the ministry in to some of these difficult areas. When we have them, we will be able to go into some of the more remote places and serve God but also spare our health.”

His comment was on a Report of 7 showings to 156 people with 23 decisions made for Jesus Christ.

MANADADRA MOUNTAINS

Rev Samaila Mangu of Nigeria writes:

“We just had a wonderful outing among the Mountain People of the Manadara Mountains near Cameroon. We were detained until we would promise to come back again soon. This is a Muslim area, but among the people who made commitments during our tour many of them were Muslims. Some of them are interested in starting correspondence courses. That is wonderful news. In one location, one man became a believer and was responsible for his entire household coming to Christ. Some of these people are under serious persecution by village Muslim leaders. Please pray that these leaders will be strengthened to serve our Lord.”

He reported 12 showings to 8,130 people with 180 decisions for Christ.

A PILGRIM’S PROGRESS
by Lane Anderson

Japan, Part 2

I suppose you could say Japan was the frosting on the Birthday Cake I missed at 35,000 feet while crossing the International Date Line. We were traveling around the world to produce 5 new productions, but no filming was going to be taking place here in Japan. It was like a short vacation before the hard work of production began. It also was a perfect way to catch up with all the time zones we had flown over. Our bodies needed time to adjust and the 2-day trip from Nagoya back to Tokyo was just what the doctor ordered.

Japan is a beautiful country with so many public areas ever so neatly manicured. Perhaps the art of gardening was perfected in this land. I was grateful to be seeing Japan through the eyes of our missionary friends, Ted and Phyllis Brannan. Along that route we visited many Buddhist Temples, some of the largest in the world. These are the most numerous, famous, and important religious buildings in the empire. I had never before seen men and women worship a deity other than the Creator God. The lack of awareness of Jesus Christ was overwhelming. The chanting by the monks in the temples was often unsettling. After all, they were not praying to my Creator, but to other unhearing, unseeing, and usually unresponding entities. Darkness never seemed so deep as when we were near or in such temples. There was an actual sense of evil, and whenever we exited, feeling of relief as well. How grateful I have always been that at a very young age I was introduced to the One and Living God.
