NO MEDIA SHOWINGS

Georgina & Donkor Ayensu

“I humbly request for some of your evangelistic video tapes with good reason.  I am Pastor of Shama Baptist Church in Sekondi, Ghana, and I’m interested in village evangelism.  We desire to plant a new church, using your material up river at a village called Anlo Beach.”

We quickly followed up Rev. Donkor Ayensu’s March ‘98 letter, seeking more background information.  He was silent for many months, and then he wrote, “I should have informed you earlier.  I lost my dear wife in the Lord, Lydia, on July 30, but now I am ready to continue the village ministry God has given me. Could we also have material for children?  My wife always worked with the children, as we went about.  I have a 17 year old daughter, who wants to help me now with children’s ministry.  Please do help me.” 

A Torch Kit and 10 videos were quickly sent.  Upon receipt these media tools were almost immediately put into action.  “The Torch Kit will be very useful,” he wrote. “Children invited their parents and friends and many souls were won to Christ.  Similar results were also seen in the local church with membership growing from 120 to 206.”  Whether at church, private homes, or area villages, God began to bless Rev. Ayensu and those who ministered with him. 

As God’s faithful servants use and begin reporting the media InterComm provides, we are eager to make available additional media tools in the future.  Because of Rev. Ayensu’s excellent record of communicating over the years, we have provided 3 other media packages for him, including video and eventually a 16mm Projector and a supply of 16mm Films. 

He writes, “I salute you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Words cannot express how I felt.  Your package brings such joy to my heart.  So I say God bless you.  Ever since we found each other many more souls have been won for the Lord with the help of your media.  You have really encouraged our ministry.”

Two years later, God brought Georgina into Rev. Ayensu’s life.  She immediately began helping his ministry with new convert follow up work.  “We’ve also started a lending Library so other ministries are now using the video tapes.  Many more people are being won to Christ this way,” he shared.

A most unusual Report arrived one day covering ministry showings from July through December 2001.  It simply stated - NO MEDIA SHOWINGS.  On the comment line Pastor Ayensu wrote, “The reason there were no media showings being that we have been visiting and encouraging our converts who, so far, have been won to Christ during the media ministry.”  What a tremendous shepherd spirit God has given this leader.  We truly praise the Lord for his loving care of these new believers.  Later, God provided a vehicle for the ministry, and he began to expand his work to greater distances.  Reports continue to come on a regular basis, always filled with thanks for InterComm’s help, provided by you.

Over these last 6 years he has reported showings to 18,943 souls with 2,633 being led to Christ.  Praise God with us for men like Rev. Ayensu, his wife, Georgina, and even his children, who God is using in such fertile ground to win their countrymen to Christ.

BETTER THAN MOTION FILM

Evangelist Sunday Owolabi of Nigeria on a recent Report covering 16mm Film Showings and the Torch Kit wrote:

“Thank God for the Torch Kit.  It really works.  It helps both children and adults whether indoor or outdoor settings.  It gives Evangelists more chance to express themselves.  This way the message always sinks down to people’s hearts, even more than in motion films.  It keeps people waiting quietly and calmly for the story to be told.”

He reported 10 showings to 3,289 with 884 decisions.

CONTEMPLATING SUICIDE

Douglas & Gladys Jiveti of Kenya wrote:

“It is a thrill knowing that this is just the beginning of a great audiovisual department in our ministry.  We went to one of Kenya’s greatest schools and had meetings this past weekend.  We screened some of the new videos you had sent.  They proved quite an asset.  More than 20 came to accept Jesus Christ.  One of them was seriously contemplating suicide, but the video SLIPPERY PATH caught him right on.  We prayed with him to receive Christ.  He renounced that wicked scheme.”

HEART LIFTING

Rev Badini KS Silas of Burkina Faso wrote:

“I would like to thank you for the Torch Kit you’ve sent us.  It is heart lifting.  What is comforting is that every time a story is shown attendances are high, and people find the stories very interesting.  An immense number of people are coming to Christ.  Besides this, the film is helping us distribute literature and otherwise spreading the Word of God.  It’s very important to note that children particularly are interested in this media.”

10 showings to 1,845 people with 149 coming to Christ.

HEARTBEAT

A number of years ago as we were in preparation for developing a script on a new production, we pursued considerable research into the functions of the human brain.  This, in turn, led me to look more deeply into those counsels of God’s Word which deal with the mind - especially the way we think, our motivations, and the promises of divine guidance.

Your brain consists of one hundred billion nerve cells - or neurons, as they are called.  Each of these is literally a dynamic factory, each one more sophisticated and more productive than any industrial complex on this planet!

What is the real purpose of the brain?

Well - and how fantastic! - for one thing, with our brains we can contemplate God.  That staggers me!  And, in contemplating God, we can develop rapport with Him which assures us of guidance, of the tender touch of conviction when we stray the slightest; but, most importantly, we can know His will and plan for our lives.

It has never struck me before how much God wants us to know His will for our lives.

There are many areas of Scripture which affirm this, but perhaps some time today you would take time to read the Apostle Paul’s prayer for us in Colossians 1:9-13.  I am particularly struck with those words that God wants to “fill you with knowledge of His will.”  And the reason - “that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way.”

Perhaps next month we’ll get back to more thoughts on the 6^th and 7^th senses.
