"Children Responding to Media Evangelism"

To locate the country of Ghana, pick up your globe or open your atlas and first locate Africa. Follow the western bulge of the continent along the Gulf of Guinea, and midway across, you will discover Ghana, a country 250 miles wide and 400 miles long. Tarkwa is located about 40 miles inland from the southwestern coast. This is where you can visit Evangelist Stephen Ayombisah, if you can find him at home, that is! You are more likely to discover he is away and involved in AVangelism somewhere in his electricity-challenged country.

“I found your address on a video tape I happened to see. It had been borrowed from a pastor, I believe. I am writing to seek material support to help me take Christ to the unreached souls in the rural parts of Ghana. Various audiovisuals can help me do vigorous evangelism.”

What fun to start correspondence with this attitude towards ministry nearly 8 years ago. In response to information received, he wrote, “In a nutshell, I wish you to send me both the Torch Kit and some video tapes. With the Torch Kit, my vision is to move into villages and cottages. I also wish to do vigorous evangelism in both primary and secondary schools with video, where electricity does exist.”

Mail is painfully slow to Ghana and back, but by late 2001 our package arrived. 2 months later he submitted his first Report, covering Torch Kit ministry. “Really, these shows have greatly touched many souls, both unsaved and even saved. I was personally challenged most by the story, THE BOY AND THE LAMP. The boy saw the importance of the Word of God, which reminded me of Joshua 1:8. We should study God’s Word day and night.”

Consistent reporting from Stephen allowed us to further equip him. Even when God opened a door for new educational opportunities, Stephen’s Reports continued to be received, usually 2 times each year and always reflecting many decisions for Christ. We have not as yet received a picture of Stephen, but he did send 2 pictures of children, taken at one of his school showings. Often times, photographs are a luxury. So we weren’t surprised that these 2 featured ministry, not Stephen. “Words cannot totally express how much this media has been a blessing to so many people in the villages,” Stephen writes. “We thank God for using InterComm to bless us with Media Ministry. Thank you for your faithfulness and constant prayers.”

Talk about faithful. Stephen has submitted 12 Reports, indicating 102 showings to 12,139 people with 3,963 decisions for Jesus Christ. Thank you - each one of you - who read this news, praise God with us, and help keep this ministry moving forward. We could not do it with you!

Praise God with us for His provision in meeting the need for the SAVE THE TORCH KIT FUND.  The basic funding for taking over the ordering and assembly of these powerful Kits, used by God all over the world, has been supplied.  Funding continues to be needed for re-supplying our inventory of Filmstrips and Projector Units. We also praise God that enough funding has been secured to begin setting dates in 2008 for the Vietnamese Language Recording Project.  To God be the glory!  These evidences of God’s provision for specific Projects greatly encourage us here at InterComm.  However, for now, the General Fund is greatly lacking.  This Fund provides the dollars needed to maintain the building, office equipment, shipping, insurance, and payroll needs.  Without these resources, InterComm cannot continue.  Each month, it is a struggle to meet these needs.  Would you pray about how you can impact this reality?  Perhaps you can provide year-end investment towards this fund.  Or maybe you can contribute monthly in 2008 to ease the strain.  Thanks so much for whatever you can do.  If finances do not permit a cash gift, then please pray with us that God will open up new opportunities to increase the funding base.

THREATENED WITH AN AXE

Rev Nelson Usman of  Nigeria writes:

“At one of my Media Showings, a certain man threatened to hack me down with a short axe. He really wanted to disable the meeting, but with his threat many people gathered. The Lord arrested the situation at last, and this distraction served as publicity for the Crusade so that many came to hear the Word of God and see the film and gave their lives to Jesus Christ. The audience showed us favor and respect. The man who threatened me seemed ashamed of this ordeal, and he stood far away, but was able to view the showings. The next day he felt guilty and ashamed and calmly submitted to watching the films. Our Torch Lite Bulb burned out. So we borrowed a 14" television and concluded with video showings to an audience of 250 people. 72 decisions for Christ took place at that very showing. Overall, there were 4 showings reported to 600 people with 211 decisions for Christ.”

BORROWED BLESSINGS

Rev Berrings Mlambya of Tanzania writes:

“We have recently showed some of the films in 27 different places. Last week we were at a girls’ secondary school, and we showed the Kiswahili film, ZAWADI. Since this is a video, we had to borrow a LCD Projector at a cost of $33. 27 girl’s out of 240 attending this showing surrendered their lives to Christ including 3 from strong Muslim backgrounds. Praise be to God!

HEARTBEAT

With the exception of Isaiah and his Messianic message, one cannot find a prophet that does not major on negatives. Why? Because Israel had disobeyed God and divine judgment must be the inevitable result. God intended our pilgrimage on earth to be joyful. He never promised an easy-does-it road to spiritual success.

In the book of Matthew we read about the foretelling of Jesus concerning the end times. What message does He proclaim? Virtually identical to the Old Testament Prophets. The more I peruse the predictions made by Jesus, the more I look at circumstances in our contemporary world and the more convinced I become of something. Christians need to live so that economic crisis, and a big one is surely coming, and social upheaval, or whatever, may not catch them by surprise. Instead, prepared by the predictions made by Jesus Himself, we realize that all of this is but part of the pilgrimage. Earth was never meant to be our objective, but assuredly Heaven, our aspired goal.

On our lips and in our hearts should live constantly the prayer, “Even so come Lord Jesus”.
