VIETNAM - A MOUNTAINTOP RECORDING PROJECT

“Beautiful Mountainous Dalat, Vietnam.”

Nestled in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, the scenic resort community of Dalat spreads its boundaries across the hilltops of this majestic region. Just shy of a magic mile, any exertion quickly reminds you 4800 feet is getting up there.

An 8-hour bus trip from Saigon gave Lane and Jill Anderson plenty of time to enjoy all the sights, sounds, and even smells of this bustling region, but it also provided ample time to ponder the mountain of work ahead with 1600 lines to record. A very challenging Project up to now required recording 1300 lines. Here we were faced with at least an extra weeks’ work. Would our friends be ready to work - hard? Could they bring voices to the microphone in a timely manner? How well had they translated each line - or tested that line with the video? Could we work well together and understand one another and again succeed for the Lord under the most challenging of circumstances? Where was our recording location? Where were we staying? What would we eat?

For each of these questions the answer seemed to be - My God Shall Supply All of your Needs.

"Vietnamese Leadership Team."

Tension - anticipation - you name it - all run high that first day, as we organize our recording table and begin the actual process. Our studio this year was conveniently our next-door guest room in the small tourist hotel where we stayed. The window was carefully sound deadened and extra fabrics were covering parts of the walls to help create a functional workroom. By early afternoon we had found our rhythm and began to function as a team. Team Leader, Hung, gave time almost daily as Language and/or Drama Coach, as did Projector Coordinator, Khiem. Khiem also took responsibility for daily food and all miscellaneous needs. Tam was the Talent Organizer, providing us on day #1 a proposed outline for every day's work, a master plan which helped us succeed. Tam, likewise, spent time as our Language and Drama Expert, as needed.

"Old & Young Came to the Microphone."

Soon, a week had passed, and our journey through that mountain of lines began to look possible. 5 weeks in a small room - all day - 6 days a week and sometimes on Sunday is a recipe for success. To God be all the glory! Prominent voices had Vietnamese names like Dem, Duoc, Bang, Tin, Phuoc, Giao, Sinh, Hoa. Not only was every line completed, we even finished a bonus children’s film with over 100 lines of script.

Our hearts overflow with pride for our Vietnamese team, seriously dedicated, professionally prepared, and now our great friends.

At home Ken D Anderson is editing the first selection, PILGRIM’S PROGRESS, which will begin its ministry just as soon as sound mixing is completed. Do please pray for the editing and sound mixing portion of this work. More importantly, pray for the souls God will touch, as the clear message of each film in the heart language of the Vietnamese people fills the screen of curious viewers all over this Communist nation. To God be the Glory - A Great Thing He Has done!

ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

"2 Vietnamese Veterans, Part of God’s Army."

While overnighting in Saigon, we had dinner with 2 other couples. Like Lane both of the men were Vietnam veterans, one American, one Australian, each of us now bringing God’s agenda to these wonderful people through unique Projects designed to spread Christianity across this land. Once in Dalat, God brought to the microphone 2 more men, South Vietnam veterans, who had both spent time after 1975 in re-education programs. Now, they pastor God’s flock in thriving churches. An amazing reunion of sorts, all made possible by you who gave and prayed for this Project.

GLAD TO BE AN AVANGELIST

"Rev Israel Josiah"

Rev Israel Josiah of Nigeria writes:

“We are exceedingly thankful for the assistance of media tools, being provided by the InterComm Ministry. These have created a great blessing to the souls that we are inviting to receive the Gospel by the grace of God through the ministry programs we are providing. These Media Tools are a great means of leading hearts to repentance and salvation. We are encouraging Christians to support the InterComm Ministry so they can equip many more people just like me with media materials, as there is a great need for films in this part of the world. I discovered that the greatest work on earth is the work of God through which groping souls are won to the Lord. By the grace of God, I will continue to work and serve the Lord through media as long as I’m alive on this earth before the Lord comes to take me away to Heaven. I am grateful to be an Avangelist.”

PRIVILEGE AND RESPONSIBILITY

A letter from Henry Abi of Cameroon.

“Sir, Cameroonians are starving and crying for the message of the Gospel in videos and films. I will repeat what I said in a Minister’s Conference. God is moving so rapidly in Cameroon and the world that many of us who carry on evangelism are having a great challenge in keeping up with Him. During movie shows huge crowds of people from all walks of life, young and old, from the villages/town park, churches, open air fields, all in anticipation to watch the movie. You can imagine how people are starving for Him. The Lord has given us the privilege and responsibility of presenting the Gospel through AVangelism. God’s Word also tells us that salvation comes as men and women call upon the Lord. However, they will not call unless someone tells them to call. People cannot believe unless they hear/see the Gospel, and the Gospel cannot be heard/seen unless someone is sent. That is what the Bible tells us in Romans. In my call to ministry, I keep on telling the Lord, ‘I will go, Lord, send me’. I shall keep that sacred commitment as many years as possible until the Lord takes me home.”

TWO LIVES SAVED

Pastor Myint Nwe, InterComm’s Project Coordinator, in Myanmar sent the following true story from one of his Media Showings.

“A young man came to the city seeking a man he bitterly hated with the intention of killing him. A few days passed, and he could not find the man. However, one evening he passed a video showing, and his interest brought him in to watch the Burmese Language video, JOURNEY TO THE SKY. The story so captivated him that he watched it until its completion. At the end he was a changed man. His heart and his mind has been totally changed by the Lord, and the bitterness he formerly held had completely disappeared. This bitterness had held him for many years, but now it was gone. He stood up and promised the audience that when he found this man he was going to ask his forgiveness and also share the Gospel with him instead of killing him. The story of JOURNEY TO THE SKY saved 2 men from death, as murder in Myanmar is a capital offense. Praise God for the touch of the Holy Spirit upon this man’s life.”

HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson

(For a period of time, InterComm will be sharing Heartbeats from the Ken Anderson Films era.)

Famed psychiatrist, Carl Menninger, saw the world as a massive extension of each human individual. To him the human personality remained permanently fettered by selfishness, hatred, prejudice-with only the occasional few seeming to break free. What besets people individually is also the human mentality of human kind in general. “The world has a suicide complex.” Menninger said, predicting the Nuclear War could begin at any time on some insane totalitarian whim.
“Men do not change, and mankind does not change”, he observed.

How wonderful to know a Savior who truly is in the people-changing business. Let’s ask Him to make some positive changes in us, even today.
